Great article excerpt about the new attacking 3-4 philosophy of the new D-coordinator for the Washington Redskins vs. the former DC's scheme... I'm not a scheme guru like many on the board, but I now see the fatal flaw in what our Canes do and what an attacking team does.

**Excerpt below from Washingtonpost.com**

As far as the defensive schemes, Barry will have more of an attacking style of 3-4. You’ll see the difference along the line more than anything. Instead of Haslett’s version, where the nose tackle and ends lined up directly across from the center and guards in the base, and took on those blockers to free up the linebackers, Barry will have his linemen lined up over the gaps between those linemen so they’re positioned to try to get past those blockers and into the backfield. The linebackers are still flying into the backfield as well.

When it comes to the secondary, Barry preaches the importance of taking away the deep ball. He doesn’t want defensive backs letting anything go over their heads. He wants them keeping everything in front of them. They’ll play a little further downfield, forcing quarterbacks to settle for underneath throws rather than having the freedom to go over the top with great frequency. In practice, things are working out just fine for the defensive players. We’ll see if plans play out accordingly in games, however.
