Multiple things are a factor here. Major NIL opportunities, loves Miami and yes - the interest in playing for Miami defensive line coach Jason Taylor is huge and Simmons' interest in the big metropolitan for possible real estate ventures in South Florida is what has kept Miami in the race for this long.
BUT despite anything that might get posted on social media, there is no clarity right now on where he is going to go. From people I have spoken to, this feels more so like a Charles Lester situation with Colorado and FSU. Lester led on that Colorado was in the thick of it, but at the end, he stills went with the Noles. I think he still ends up with Texas. The SEC move, their ability to basically match NIL, the ability to stay home, and them being closer to winning right now has them as the leader for me.
LSU is on the outside looking in from what I can tell. The leave of absence due to a medical emergency from defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey is going to play a factor. He is a major part of LSU's recruiting efforts after he was poached away from South Carolina this winter. All reports say that it was a major medical emergency, so doubt he returns to the sidelines soon.
