Miami has had some trench monsters up front in its history. But who was the best? K C Jones, Kelvin Harris, Ereck Flowers and Ty Wise are some other names who didn’t make the list.

Was told by a college coach that they think Jones has the potential to be the best player in this class for Miami. Said he is a freak of all freaks, which is proven with his ability to play skill positions like running back and tight end, while grabbing INTs as an interior defensive lineman. He has legit 6'4" size while hovering around 300-pounds and the name they compared him to was a smaller version of Miami Dolphins former first rounder and Clemson product Christian Wilkins. Major pickup after grabbing the first five-star of the class.

Oklahoma Head Coach Brent Venables took a shot at Miami that seemingly came out of left field.

Asked on an interview on Sirius XM about the Sooners going 6-7, Venables said: "There's lots of ways you can be 6-7, none of its any good. Right? But, had we been, had we gotten blown out by a Middle Tennessee. Had we gotten beat by a Florida State 45-3, the conversation is probably a little different."

What a change. You can talk about 5-7. You can talk about complete staff turnover after the first year. You can complain about all of that. What you cannot complain about is how Cristobal is winning South Florida over.

Year after year, Miami has seen the best down here leave for greener pastures and settle with second to third tier players. That has changed with Cristobal.

Three commits from St. Thomas Aquinas. Potential for up to five from Chaminade-Madonna. Potential for three at Miami Central. A major uptick in additions from American Heritage. Early offers for the best in 2026, 2027 and even 2028! Cristobal has tapped into the community and is now adding guys that can be program changers.

This is just the beginning for this final stretch for Miami in 2024. Zaquan Patterson, Jeremiah Smith, LaWayne McCoy, potential flips of Cedrick Bailey and Davion Gause. All real possibilities right now. The influence of the Ryan Mack addition is not to be underestimated. It put all this in motion. Add in at least two blue-chip DL additions, Chris Cole and possibly another high potential OL take - on top of the South Florida targets - and you have a class that could be even better than last year. Win 9-10 games and things could get really crazy....

My vote goes to Nathaniel Ray Ray Joseph.

Miami felt confident a few weeks ago to land the four-star defensive tackle from IMG Academy but a push from Ohio State has lessened Miami's confidence. According to west coast sources (Jackson is originally from Utah) Texas, and OU all have a legitimate shot at getting Jackson's commitment.

One school that is clearly not in contention is Florida.

Jackson is set to make his decision on July 13th.
