Joaquin Gonzalez Tweet

...this deserves its own thread. One of the callers last night (305?) mentioned that Joaquin tweeted something following the bowl loss.

At first glance, if I were to read between the lines, it sounds like Joaquin is suggesting that Manny is ignoring advice Ed is giving him. Its the only way this tweet makes sense. Ed and Joaquin are obviously old teammates who presumably talk behind the scenes. Very troubling if true.

BLAKE JAMES is the entire problem..

This guy has no clue nor is he qualified to hire a football coach and certainly is not capable nor has the balls to call out a poor performance like the NC, Clemson and soft ass Okla.State games.

This has to be the first firing in order to stabilize the program.

You than bring in Highsmith to make changes and put all coaches on notice..

This pussies Ass AD we have now is soft incompetent and has to go...

We are So So Soft

Man Deion Sanders and Booger Mcfarland.. They are Soo right.. How soft we are

Im lookin at these threads sayin take it easy.. Don't be so down on the Kid.. They tried there hardest
Its been a Tough Year.. Blah Blah.. Mann Look.. Life is not easy.. And if we are cuddling these kids man then we are crippling them for Life.. I think thats from Remember the Titans.. My man Denzel.. but he's right too..

College football has gotten stale

College football seems locked in a system dominated by just a few elite teams and it’s not likely to change anytime soon.

Alabama, Oklahoma, Clemson, Notre Dame, LSU and Ohio State have dominated the scene. Occasionally, a team like FSU, Georgia or Oregon shows up. The rest are virtually invisible. The selection committee has shown a track record of locking the door to unbeaten Group of Five teams like Cincinnati and previously UCF. They’re not allowed to the party.

The NFL has been set up to limit the formation of such dynasty teams. The super bowl winner gets the last pick in the draft. The worst team gets the best player. Salary caps make it difficult to retain a team full of stars. Get caught cheating and you could lose your franchise.

College football has no such guardrails. The top teams have a distinct advantage signing the top players and so the system self perpetuates.

Meanwhile, teams cheat like crazy and pay everyone from high school coaches to Uncle Joe to land a recruit. No one seems to really care. The schools, certain players, coaches, AD’s, NCAA brass and bowl committee chairs are making a fortune. Don’t ruin our deal. Everyone is dirty so no one drops a dime.

Each year, we get to watch the same teams match up in the playoffs. It’s getting old and boring.

Is this the future?

The hiring of Manny with no search was due to who his father is

What makes it even worse is that it is going to be that much harder to get rid of him if he does not get this mess fixed, which I do not think he will. Look at how long it took them to get rid of golden , and you think they’re going to fire the former mayor‘s son with all of their connections in Miami. We better hope and pray manny turns this around quickly like LSU did last year because if he fails we will be stuck with him for way longer than we should be.

Let's be realistic.

While the recovery time for this injury is 7 to 9 months, game day conditioning takes longer.

I hope for the very best, but I NEVER recall this injury being game ready and 100% in the first year after the injury. Never, not in anyone.

Attention Perry, through tragic circumstance, This is Your Time. You beat FSU when they were strong, now do it to Bama.

2020 can kiss my ass,.... It was a %$@#&! of a year!

2020 was a total cluster fuk.
Outside of Amazon, Pizza deliveries, liquor sales and Joe Biden, the rest of us held our breath, & are still waiting to exhale!
However we all made it through it, we are survivors despite what some believe.
As they say, “what doesnt destroy you, makes you stronger”, hmmmmmm
No sure we are ALL better, stronger, however we are tougher, more calloused as a whole.!
Great thing that, history Is not necessarily an indicator of future events

Thoughts and prayers to those that lost their lives and all affected by Covid.

Best wishes to our Canesport brotherhood, despite our differences.

Here’s to a healthy, happy and successful 2021

King Injury possibility

I reviewed the film on the King injury and looked at the slow motion replay. As an aside, I am an orthopedic surgeon.

A few things I gathered:

1. Truly a freak injury. Probably a move he has made thousands of times in his career without incident.

2. It is definitely concerning regarding a possible ACL injury as he was pivoting when the knee gave out.

BUT

A couple of factors that are giving me hope that it may not be as bad as expected.

1. It is possible that the MCL or medial meniscus could only be injured, without the ACL involved. That is because his knee seemed to buckle medially, meaning toward his other leg.

2. It is taking a long time for an official announcement on the injury status, which could mean that there are multiple treatment options for the injury at hand, which is typical for meniscus injuries as well as MCL injuries. This could mean that he is waiting on second opinions on treatment options which would correlate with these other injuries.

Complete ACL injuries do not require multiple opinions, as they are always treated surgically in the athletic population.

Anyway, just a few thoughts as we all sit here praying that it is NOT an ACL injury.

Gary's right on 4 years with this caveat...

They don't go backwards NEXT year. They don't have to win the ACC next year but assuming we go back to a normal 12 game schedule Miami needs to win 9 games again next year minimum and compete for the ACC Coastal.

He did enough despite the late season issues to earn his way back. And it is too much to ask to simply be as good as Clemson is next year when they clearly still have holes to fill. But sorry he can't go backwards next year either and expect to get a 4th year. And I still think he needs to upgrade defensive staff.

Then year 4 I think he needs to show that Miami is BACK. That they can compete with Clemson and be right there for an ACC title. Keep in mind FSU and UNC are thinking the same thing.

GARCIA: Talented, Athletic, and WINNER...

Jake Garcia has IT. There is no competition. He is the only QB on our roster (or will be) that can take us to the next level. He has the same “IT” factor as D’Eriq King. Not the athlete but don’t sleep on his athleticism. We have a tendency of labeling “pro-style“ QB’s as these immovable oaks. Garcia is NOT that. He’s smart. Picked up a totally new offense (Grayson, Ga.) mid season with no prep. He’s fearless. Faced all sorts of obstacles and overcame them. He’s a winner. Look at the results. He’s a leader. Just review how this entire class gravitated to him and wanted him in this class.

Garcia needs to be the starting QB at some point during 2021. Not necessarily starting against Bama. But we need him to be the leader of this team ASAP. If King does not return to his form of 2020, then Garcia needs to be option #1. We need to be brutally honest. And we need to be ok with that. Understand the games we may lose as Jake gets his feet under him. Not become hysterical ninnys and understand we are preparing to compete for championships. We have to plan accordingly.

Matt & Gary???

Can u guys give some feedback on the development of chantz Williams,Quinton Williams & Blittset. And why would manny consider wasting a spot for an average grad transfer at DE when we need cornerback’s desperately unless none of these 3 Freshmen DE’s are showing any progress.Out of the 3 freshmen DE’s I named 2 were 4* & 1 were 3*.Why are we recruiting guys that’s need 3 yrs to develop before getting on the field. The DT for Clemson Davis played as a freshman an he was a rival 4* DT coming out of high school

Did we go 0-11 this season?

Obviously it's disappointing to lose that game. And King's injury is even more important than the result.

But it's pretty amusing to read all the meltdown threads on these boards. Fire everyone, this was a disaster, Diaz is the worst coach ever, etc. All the national media and other teams fans saw a very entertaining bowl game, and are praising Miami for nearly pulling off the comeback with a backup QB. Hell Yahoo even has an article talking about how the refs screwed Miami and essentially won the game for Ok St.

And take a step back to look at the season. Lost to #2 Clemson, top-15 UNC (in a game 95% of schools would have Covid-cancelled), and top-25 Ok St. No bad losses, beat a top-25 NC St team, and of course 52-10.

It seems posters expect perfection, but you don't go from 6-7 to 2001 Miami in a year. This year was a big step forward. Recruiting is going well and 2021 looks like we'll take another step, with 10 wins + winning the Coastal being the expectation. King's injury could derail that but nobody knows right now.

Sure, there should be some staff changes, and some transfers need to be added. But maybe have some perspective with where the program is at
