None of this is remotely relevant. We are leaving Afghanistan and the Taliban are taking over. Staying a few more months or a few more years wouldn't have made a difference in delaying the inevitable.

What could have happened was a better plan to not put American lives at risk and not put our military equipment in the hands of the Taliban.

No one can tell me that top level generals and Intelligence did not know a better way to do this than the way it was done. You do not leave the US Airbase - Bagram prior to getting all vital assets out. Can Biden really be that dumb or is he being advised by people that wanted this to be the flaming failure and embarassment to the USA that it is?

No, it does make a difference. If it is an orderly departure, we are controlling how we leave. If it is the Taliban kicking us to the curb, then the world sees our lack of control, coordination and incorrect statements made by our President and some in his cabinet. The perception to the rest of the world is very important towards our foreign reaction after our retreat. We should have sent over every B-52 we had full with full ordinance and dropped it on their strongholds as a goodbye gift prior to leaving. I guarantee you the Taliban would have backed off until we left Kabul.

I agree. The images are terrible. Biden needs to beef up the flights out of there, which will hopefully happen after he addresses the nation this afternoon.
If the Taliban want to they can stop all flights. They obviously have rockets in place aimed at airport.
They would be unwise to do anything at the airport since they would be killing Afghans in the process, which would be a major PR disaster for them. We are apparently negotiating with their leadership in Qatar, so hopefully they agree to a peaceful conclusion that allows those wanting to leave to get on planes.
