Let’s say contribution/inspiration. Who is a female singer that all singers male and female want to be compared to, aspire to be? Think like jim hendrix, bob Marley. Who is just a legend that is respected across the board and will be remembered for a hundred years? How is “best” defined? If by unit sales, Madonna is the highest selling female music artist of all time, below Elvis, The Beatles and Michael Jackson.
Lol, omg that’s hilarious! I’ve never seen that. I can’t believe that actually happened. That’s a huge crowd too! I’d love to know what kind of drugs she was on. Guarantee you some of the people on here are on the same stuff and just go to show why hard core drugs are bad, as does again with some of the posts on here with some of their posts. You can tell when they get rolling that it just seems like such art in their minds at the time clearly being completely oblivious to the contrary.Linda McCartney, LOL
Freaking awesome. I’d say her and janis joplin two best for rock and roll.Stevie Nicks … everything about her exudes awesomeness
Ya talent wise, not sure who can compete. Not a lot out there to compare her to.Based upon talent: Whitney Houston, hands down.
These names are tough to beat. They’ll always be around and inspire. That music is like a time machine that really takes you to you a different time and place in this country. Very sareal. Most definitely innovative.Etta James
Bonnie Raitt
Shaun Murphy
Amanda Marshall
Gladys Knight
Ella Fitzgerald
Surprised aretha didn’t get more shout outs. To your point 20’s and 30’s she really left a stylistic impression that nobody can really compete with. When she sings you know it’s her and EVERYONE likes it. Huge range too that she never really got credit for. Not going to lie, she also had a lot of talent around too that didn’t hurt.Whitney Houston
Celine Dion
Aretha Franklin in her 20's and 30"s
Linda McCartney, LOL

Aretha, in my opinion, tarnished her reputation by singing well past her prime. For me, it was difficult listening to her sing in her fifties and beyond. Her earlier voice was very special.Surprised aretha didn’t get more shout outs. To your point 20’s and 30’s she really left a stylistic impression that nobody can really compete with.
