simple answer Graham wants to be a winner. Al Golden is a loser head coach(stevehick will hopefully stop bleeding now) that has been taught by two pedos and Al Groh a garbage DC. A school that has not won anything besides a Rosebowl 30 years ago has higher standards then a school that has won 5 championships.

"Graham openly admits that last year’s 10-win season was “miserable” because his expectations were so much higher, especially after the Sun Devils jumped to no. 6 in the College Football Playoff standings following a win over Notre Dame in early November; they followed up that breakthrough with a loss to Oregon State. "

"That notion of a national championship is one Graham takes seriously enough that he plastered the phrase in gratuitous fashion all over Arizona State’s football facility as soon as he got there. Another of the rubber bracelets on his wrist reads “NC-16” (shorthand, obviously, for National Champions 2016). That may seem a bit ardent when you’re coaching a program that’s played in only one Rose Bowl since 1987, but Graham doesn’t see it that way: “Why would you not have a goal of that?” Graham says. “Is that abnormal thinking? Maybe. Is it elite thinking? Yes.” "
