I figured I would start a positive thread about a dream of mine I hope to see fulfilled in the next couple or years. For those that remember Jesse Armstead, Darrin Smith, and Michael Barrow (the original Bernuda Triangle), I hope that after next year's class we have a comparable trio of linebackers.
Yeah I know how unrealistic that sounds considering both OLBs (Smith/Armstead) ran 4.5 in the 40, and Michael Barrow was a leader of a National Championship squad snd is also responsible for possibly my all time favorite Cane moment. That is when he absolutely leveled FSU freshman phenom, Tamarick Vanover in the flats. Not only was it one of the greatest hits ever thrown down by a Cane, it was even more awesome because Vanover was a kid that the Canes recruited hard and was originally thought to be headed to the U. The Bermuda Triangle taunted a wobbly Vanover with words like "betcha wish you came to da U right now",
As great as those guys were, I think Shaq Quarterman is pretty much already a Cane. He has a highlight film that includes a Cane theme throughout and has stated he intends to graduate early to join the team sooner. Then we have Devin Bush. Most see him as a Criminole and they may be right. However, Devin Gil and Bush are boys and likely to want to play together. I prefer Gil at LB simply because the most dominant seasons we have had included LBs that could fly. Add McCloud, Pinkston, Simmons, and Jermaine Grace who is only a sophomore and has been clocked at 4.5, and you have an unbelievably talented young group. I'm certain I left a name or two out.
Understand I am not talking about our current trio and in no each mean that any of these kids deserve to be compared with those greats I mentioned. It's just that seeing ShaqQ and Devin Bush on film gets me pretty pumped about imagining them swarming FSU runnjng backs in years to come.
Anyhow, it sure sounds nice in my tiny brain.
