It's a great idea however if you're trying to keep inflation under control, what better way to do so by increasing oil supply thus lowering the cost. This is basic economics.
Even stupider is claiming to shut down drilling in this country to combat climate change and then asking other countries to bump up their oil output. Does the oil produced over there have no effect on climate change? Also quite hypocritical to expect other countries to have to deal with the side effects of producing oil just so Americans can satisfy their addiction to petroleum products. Out of sight out of mind?
