Is the passing of the law in California the death knell for amateurism in college athletics as a whole?
Take Justin Flowe for instance, why would he leave California where he can legally be paid now to play college football? And yes I realize that he will be paid for endorsements/use of his image and not actually playing but that distinction will not mean anything.
Think this results in the large state schools throughout the south filing suit claiming that they should be allowed to pay players to remain competitive, removing the facade of no bags being offered. The NCAA will have no ability to punish for said violations and smaller private schools will simply not be able to afford to buy teams to compete.
While I don't like the idea that the kids were so exploited previously; as a Miami fan, I think our road to championships in the future just became monumentally more difficult.
