My MIAMI-Florida game pick was Florida 27-17... not quite on the money, but close enough for government work.
My MIAMI-UNC game pick is UNC 24-23.
Before folks jump off the Intercontinental Hotel roof... I have my reasons. Our track record AT UNC sucks. They beat an average SEC team, but an “average” SEC team wins the ACC Coastal. They didn’t do it on their home field. Momentum IS a big deal. UNC now KNOWS it can win a big game as opposed to our “hoping” we can. We play them at night at their home. They have a better QB than Florida does, even though just a true Freshman. And last but not least, we embarrassed them last year.
Can we handle that truth?
I know the fans can’t. I am sure the coaches can. That leaves the team and recruits. I’m guessing a loss at UNC will bring about a few public decommits and a bunch more private decommits. That’s just the nature of the beast.
Still a long season. And I believe we can win 9-10 games still. And sign the kids who REALLY want to be here. Key is keeping a team with a bunch of 18-19-20 year olds from checking out because #TNM has turned back into #TSOM, (the same old Miami).
I think Manny and staff can do that.
I believe in the team leaders of this team.
Next, we have 5 straight home games. Nice stretch for us to lick our wounds, continue to improve, BOTH as players AND coaches, and try to plug our gaping holes. I trust the team and staff.
Somehow we got to convince the Blue Chip recruits that they can’t wait to see results without their becoming a part of the solution. That’s the truth.
