Did Alabama go too far?

This happened in the state of Alabama, the poorest state in the Union. If you think families that are strapped for $$$ will benefit from this decision, No possible way. When families fall upon hard times, life gets harder.
That’s seriously your argument? What does poor have to do with having abortions? What does that have to do with the 99% of people who have abortions just because they didn’t want to make their other half wear a condom? I’m no naive that sometimes things happen. Why is adoption to infertile parents not an option instead?

Because you think it’s just elderly white males... and by the way the elderly white woman who championed planned parenthood was a racist and did only to control the minority population growth. Oh yeah and she was a democrat. Shocking!

Let’s be real, justify how when a pregnant mother is murdered, the killer is charged with two murders not one. Why is it a life then and not when mom wants to conveniently end a pregnancy. Also I saw the stats today for pregnancies that involved rape or incest and it was like .002% so spare me that crap!

Their catch phrases that sound reasonable, but don’t show much thought, are starting to loose traction, so now they say old white men. They are literally working off of talking points, they are all parroting each other. By the way Cash, you know it’s racist to want less African American babies killed.

God forbid you should propose abstinence as a form of birth control, Cash. Then you are just being ludicrous and unreasonable. No, better to kill an unborn child as to not inconvenience the mother. Unfu**ing believable!

Lets see..... There are folks incarcerated, imprisoned that are existing on tax payer $$$$--- free food, free dental, free medical and have a roof over their heads paid for with tax dollars. Yet there is no plan nor is their effort to help women with their reproductive health; some of these women , make that many women who are tax payers, head of households, single parents who are being forgotten. Prisons exist & those who inhabit them at the expense of tax ;payer dollars. Some trade off

This incoherent mess of an attempted point reeks of desperation. At no point did you even establish a reasonable articulated point lol.

I think he’s saying it’s our fault for not paying for birth control, it’s not like it’s a major expense.
Glad you got something out of it. I personally loved the women’s reproductive rights line... lol

Like a women doesnt have the right to have a choice whether or not she has sex, has a child, has access to birth control. Quite possibly the worst response I’ve seen on this board in 10 years.

Women have a right to choose for themselves. With regards to the recent abortion ban laws in Alabama, Missouri and other states: I believe that everyone in America was outraged when China's one child law (now repealed) resulted in forced abortions. No one in America felt it was right force a woman to have an abortion . Americans were outraged because Americans believe in freedom---freedom to exercise personal choice over their own bodies.
Roe vs Wade is about choice. Every woman in America was given back her freedom to choose----her right to make decisions about her own body.
If a woman doesn't believe in abortions and wouldn't have one in a million years, that's perfectly fine. Its her decision. The decision she made for herself.
I don't see any law on the books telling men what to do with their man parts. There's a valid reason for that----The govt
has no role in a man's choice for himself. Why isn't what's good for the goose is good for the gander in this situation?
Its about freedom. Freedom to choose. Period.

Ok then at what point do the liberals believes a fetus is a life and that you’re responsible for that life that you chose to make (99% of the time).

See you won’t answer this because then you’re locked into an answer and are actually responsible for something.

When two people have sex, we can all agree the primary basis for sex is to create life. It’s not like you don’t understand the potential outcome of what’s happening. It’s also more then feasible to get condoms or whatever type of birth control you chose.

I’m not sure how you can look in a mirror with these talking point responses you’ve given. If you think that liberal line of response is ok you’re a horrible ass person. And yes I’m judging because it’s just sick!

One of the biggest problems for the pro choice movement now is science, it shows you are dealing with a separate life, that can feel the pain as you butcher it. It’s not a question of a woman’s right to do what she wants with her body, it’s not an appendage of her body. It’s a separate life, we’ve made what should be the safest place for a baby, the mother’s womb, the most dangerous. On a side note, China still has that gruesome abortion policy, if you can’t pay the tax to government, for having an extra child, they will even kill the baby at one years old when they find a couple hiding one. Pretty gruesome, unless you’re a Democrat congressional rep. from New York or Virginia.

Women must have the right to choose abortion. Alabama, the poorest state in the nation, is in the headlines for banning abortions.
The state has 15 counties with a poverty rate higher than 25%. More than a quarter million children live below the poverty line, and Republican gov Kay Ivey apparently couldn't care less.
But she wants to overturn the Roe vs Wade decision and make abortions illegal nationwide.
This backward step is a slap in the face to all women. To take away a woman's right to choose in an overpopulated world is insane.
Ivey & a % of others don't seem to care about the unwanted children once they are born.
Food insecurity rates in many states are close to 20%. There are 44 million Americans without health insurance, and nearly 38 million with inadequate health insurance.
Children should be a result of family planning. All women must have the right to decide whether to have children.

No BS. how many folks, teens at the poverty line have access to info on sex education, infant care, as well as the challenges of raising newborns? Will 11, 12 y/o girls who will not be allowed to abort; what will the psychological impact be?

Women had the courage to seek abortion rights. The generation of women before me fought wholeheartedly to have access to legalized abortion.
With inadequate or no accessible form of birth control, women who succumbed to those lying words" I love you" in the heat of passion were abandoned and left to faced the consequences alone. Some ended up killing themselves with botched hanger jobs.
In todays world, we no longer need abortion.
There are numerous options for birth control and we have something now called DNA and paternity. For every woman who falls for that famous line , we now can confirm the father of the infant and expect a child support check.
So to those 25 men who voted to end abortion & also from the standpoint of women who support abortion: Bring it on!

B.S. teens have way more access to sex education and contraceptives than they’ve ever had, and compared to fifty years ago, they have way more pregnancies. You answered when you think life counts, for you I guess it’s 11 and 12.

So people shouldn’t stick up for innocent babies, they’re just as much a person as the woman, think of the physical pain the innocent baby is feeling.

All of them lol. When was the last time you were in a public school? 11 & 12 year old girls in the extreme minority even in the major cities. You literally have a baseless argument full of grandstanding on 0001% on the incidents involving abortions and are making it out to be as if it’s 50+%. I’ve posted the statistics in this thread. Feel free to go back and look at them for yourself.

Literally he’s making an argument for the sake of making an argument. He’s not brought up one valid point yet. So far it’s been
1. Women’s reproductive rights, negating any of the actual facts and responsibilities of adults
2. Incest and rape (.002% or less of the actual abortion statistics)
3. Poverty o_O
4. Extreme Underage Pregnancy (.001%)
5, lack of sex education for minors and or access to birth control (WtF?) not even remotely true!

The erosion of abortion rights needs to be halted.
Now that the U.S. supreme court has a conservative majority that appears inclined to consider an overhaul or even a reversal on Roe vs Wade, efforts to ratchet back women's reproductive rights are moving forward on judicial as well as legislative and administrative tracks. The multi pronged affront is troubling , and should be fended off with considerable vigor.
In the latest push on the administrative track, # 45 announced earlier this month , during the national day of prayer, the so called " the conscience protection rule, which allows health care providers to refuse to provide care on the basis of religious beliefs or moral convictions.
Issued by the Dept. of Health and Human Services, this rule protects individuals---from medical students to ambulance drivers and emergency room doctors-----and entities, including charitable groups, insurers & employers, from having to violate personal beliefs by participating in any way in abortions or other procedures.
In addition to refusing care, it allows businesses to refuse insurance coverage, and permits health care workers to not fully inform patients of medical options they deem objectionable. Hawaii's AG Claire Connors, joining 2 dozen states and cities suing to block the rule, rightly called it essentially a "license to discriminate."
Hawaii became the 1st state to legalize abortion as a largely elective procedure----3 yrs before the Roe v Wade (1973)
decision allowed it on a national scale, up to the point of fetal viability. Since then, access has been fairly open to the full spectrum of legally permissible reproductive health care here.
Elsewhere, in recent years, some states have enacted increasingly restrictive abortion-related laws. Six states---Kentucky, Mississipi, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota and West Virginia---now have only one abortion clinic left.
The new Alabama law establishing a near total abortion ban doent take effect for six months, but looms as a threat on the judicial track. As its supporters had apparently hoped, the measure is prodding challenges that could produce a legal case that could take down the landmark Roe ruling.
Staunch abortion foes see even a minor undercutting, which sets the stage for subsequent decisions, as a legal gain that makes it increasingly difficult to obtain an abortion in the U.S. But imposing barriers intended to result in an outright ban is a clear violation of womans constitutional right to privacy.
In 1970, Hawaii's Governor John A. Burns was on the mark when he asserted that a abortion decision should be reserved for a woman & her doctor--reasoning that aligns with the court's view of the fourteenth amendment. His levelheaded stance was particularly impressive due to his personal religious beliefs as a Catholic. (The Catholic Church had waged a long battle to keep the bill from passing: Burns let the measure become law without signing it).
In the mid 1990s, Bill Clinton employed the nuanced phrasing "safe, legal and rare," to describe his policy outlook on abortion. The tagline is a unifying sentiment; and various polling has repeatedly confirmed that most Americans agree with the realistic take that, with some exceptions, abortion should be legal, even if its morally unwanted.
In recent years though, the pendulum has swung to frame the debate in starker "pro-life", "pro-choice" terms, which can stir emotionally charged divisions.
The federal govt's "conscience protection rule" is now being legally challenged by Hawaii and 22 other states and municipalities, which seek to block the rule from going into effect July 22nd. Such response & ongoing vigilance, is needed to prevent a chipping away of reproductive rights.

Life? Point blank period? Life began millions of years ago. Hasn't stopped. Human life? These repugs who are pushing for complete ban on abortion, better put their $$$$ where their mouths are. Why is it African American infants have a 2 to 3 times higher infant mortality rate than whites. So they are pro life? yeah right.

Why don’t you ask the lady who founded planned parenthood, Margaret Sanger, who was not only a democrat but a huge racist.

Once again your response is a buckshot effect of using talking points and not really grasping any of it.

The GOP caucus pretends to give a damn about the unborn so they can sweep evangelicals, religious folks off of their feet. They are all in from conception to the birth. After that babies are on their own. They do it by making cuts to foodstamps, reduction in healthcare, defunding education, housing. This way there will always be overpopulation but also an increase in the number of folks who are unable to help themselves. And guess what??? The repugs will still insist on making cuts.

Until We can claim our pregnant wives’ fetuses as a dependent for tax purposes then it is not considered a “life” by the US.

Everything you stated is a blatant lie! They’re in it for the long haul! Ask me how I know... I grew up poor having a father who made $8000 a year and mother who was a part time LPN who made even less. I was one of 3 boys. We had what we could afford which wasn’t much. Sure glad my mom didn’t think like you. Poverty has nothing to do with abortion. You can stop your fake narrative now!

Repugs in it for the long haul??? You bet with with pro life. If its fetal stages your doing great but once you're out of the womb you're totally screwed. Those men who voted for an anti abortion bill do not care about a womans reproductive rights because they don't have to choose nor concern themselves with it because they are male, without a uterus and unable to understand the emotional and physical affects of pregnancy on their mind, body & lifestyle.
Yes choices need to be made before conception happens. Men have a choice. You don't want a child but want to have sex? Simple. Get a vasectomy.
Its reversible, its much easier on a body than hormones. Its low maintenance; no more running to the store to purchase condoms like a responsible guy. Women don't get pregnant on their own but they sure are left to themselves should a accident occur.
To those men: rise up. Take responsibility. You can always have it reversed should they decide to procreate.

Also , the mortality rate for African American infants are 2.5 % higher than whites. Many are born with abnormalities that are treated with prescription drugs which are man made, with chemicals. eventually these chemicals get stored in the internal organs which soon shut down. The result is death due to organ failure. The drug companies benefit. The manufacturers benefit along with health care providers. This definitely translates to poverty with addional expenses such as food, housing, living expenses which increases every quarter. Lets not forget the huge profits that are raked in by these institutions. So don't tell me poverty has nothing to do with abortion.

Yeah ok so you state your opinion over and over, again and again. It’s your opinion (which you have no clue). POVERTY has nothing to do with anything abortion related. Another lie of the left. Can you guys tell the truth? I beginning to wonder if it’s even possible.

Telling the truth? When was the last time a member of the GOP caucus did? I remember when a member of the GOP said "women cant get pregnant after a rape. They have the ability to shut it down & stop the pregnancy." This wasn't too long ago.
If a woman has sex with 100 random men in a year, she can still only produce one full term pregnancy. If a guy has sex with 100 random women in a year, he can produce 100 full term pregnancies. So why exactly are we only talking about regulating women? Why are women's bodies always up for discussion and control?
Teen girls are in no position to care for a child, and Im sure in their hearts they know being tethered to the guy for the rest of their lives who fathered the child is a bad idea.
Men don't have to find a clinic nor seek consultation. They dont have to sit alone when the clinic worker tells them the test was indeed positive. They don't have to lay on a table and look up at the ceiling at a monet poster while they shoot a sedative in their arm, and have that poster with its lady in a large hat holding an umbrella be burned on their brain for all eternity. Men don't have to know the feeling of tears streaming down their numb faces while a family member holds their hand.
Men don't have to sit in the recovery room, surrounded by others, and no one speaks. If the abortion takes place on Halloween night, they are not the ones having to stare at those in costumes and having to hate the holiday. They don't have to wonder if they will ever have children again.
Men don't have to go thru any of the above. The only thing they have to do is come inside a woman, girl and reprimand them for considering an Abortion. Then disappear. Something the GOP caucus is very familiar with.

Giving this more thought, and since there is much debate on when a fetus is “alive” or “born”, with solid points on both sides of the argument, I believe the federal government should not get involved and allow each state to decide if they will allow abortions within their own state.
