Bishop Gorman High School has suspended football coach Kenny Sanchez after he was arrested following accusations of domestic battery.
Per the Associated Press, Sanchez is suspended "pending the outcome of a review of the situation" after being arrested on Tuesday. He's accused of domestic violence against a woman on Christmas Day.
His attorney has denied the allegations.
In a statement on Twitter (via the Las Vegas Review-Journal), Bishop Gorman president John A. Kilduff explained the decision to suspend Sanchez:
You may have seen the stories in the news regarding allegations made against Coach [Sanchez]. We wanted to let you know that we take any allegations involving our faculty and staff very seriously. While we cannot comment on personnel matters, as is our standard practice, Coach Sanchez has been suspended pending the outcome of the review.
Bishop Gorman's football program is one of the best in the nation, having won three straight national championships and eight straight state titles.
