He comes from Michigan and Harvard. You do not 'penny pinch' in those places. You hire the best talent and pay them fair value. The difference between paying $2.5m or $4m does not mean much to the University in the grand scheme of things but puts the search in a new category. A willingness to pay $3.5m - $4m gets everyone's attention given the recruiting hotbed. Fan support sucks in Miami across all sports, but great coaches are always willing to come given the history and lifestyle (not to mention no state taxes). Rick Pitino was much closer than people realize to becoming Bball coach. Any great coach will think they can win a NC here. THEREFORE, I expect everyone is on the table except the following:
Nick Saban
Les Miles
Jim Harbaugh
Urban Meyer
Jimbo Fisher (only because he coaches our rival)
Jim McElwein (only because he is brand new at UF)
Dabo Sweeney
Art Briles (too entrenched and older - 59)
David Shaw - Stanford lifer
