The University of Miami product is expected to make his preseason debut Saturday night in Tampa against the Buccaneers after missing much of training camp with a hamstring injury. Before even taking his first snap, position coach Wilbert Montgomery likened him to Hall of Famer Thurman Thomas because of his versatility and mismatches he can create.

To listen to the Browns talk about Johnson one would think they selected him in the first round, not No. 77 overall.

"Duke has been great," Pettine said."We have gradually ramped up his reps, and he has looked good. (Offensive coordinator John DeFilippo) has been relieved. There are certain plays, you get to the point where you work on your basic install, but then as training starts to wind down, you have certain plays for certain guys, and we have been holding some because it was more matched to Duke's skillset."

DeFilippo said a day earlier Johnson is a "major piece" to the offense.

GOOD LUCK TO HIM !!!!!!
