There’s so many different things to look at as far as legit reasons for struggle vs unacceptable reasons for struggle that lead to our record. At the end of the day though how is it that this team factually (you can’t argue this), beat a top 20 team in uva, was a play or two away from beating a top 10 team in uf and is some chip shot kicks and extra points away from winning the other losses and yet we’re looking to have the worst record we’ve had since the 70’s along with an almost loss to a directional mid major. It just doesn’t add up.
i get the we have young players and young coach’s but I just can’t wrap my head around how we can be so close to basically being undefeated while having such a shitty record. AGAIN, if we have a kicker that’s even 75% oppose to the anomaly of what 10% we have a whole different picture right now and you can’t argue that. BUT our lb’s don’t seem to improve, no one can tackle all of the sudden, plays aren’t getting off in time, penalties galore, our three best players roseau not starting till half way through the season, jordan only getting four passes a game and dallas not getting the ball when the games on the line. I just don’t get it.
it’s like looking at a glass of water that has water being poured into it as it’s leaking out the bottom while the water line is treading right down the middle.
is this a dichotomy or what?
i know this sounds crazy but this is a similar record to what richt started with his first year here and his four losses were back to back with no decent win to start the first half of that season. He did rattle off fifteen strait after the first half of his first year here.
do you see this season going onto improvement or do you see it turning into one so bad it’s for the books? This has always been a feast or famine team too so you pretty much have to pick between 8 to plus or 6 to below. Big difference too. 8 to plus is top 25 finish where as 6 to below just sucks. At this point it’s hard to believe that with the “worst coaching job we’ve ever seen” that we even finished with seven wins last year.
my opinion, it’s not time to throw the baby out with the bath water. Get a new kicker that’s half way decent and this is a different picture. Give these totaly green players and coach’s, well not all coach’s but most another year and you don’t see as many penalties, sacks, plays taking as long to develop or even be called. You’re literally talking about an entirely different record.
