I think about where this team is vs. last year and believe with our schedule that we have to be the favorite to win 10-11 games in the regular season and take the Coastal again. To much at the RB and WR spots on offense to not be better and even if Rosier wins the job, he should be better than last year, which was his first year playing. On defense, between scheme and talent, I think we should be just as good. If Diaz can fix some of the soft spots (underneath coverage) and we hold up at DT, we could be a bit better.
QB - Better with more experience and some in coming talent (4 guys who can play)
RB- Just as good since Homer was an unknown...much better depth with Dallas, Lingard, Burns, arrival of Davis
WR - Better off with Richards, Thomas, Cager, Harley, Langham, and newcomers, including Pope who will be great from day 1
TE - Will be as good as last year once Jordan and Mallory show up...Hearndon was a one many show last year and I think Irvin will be better along with the two new guys...Jordan needs to come in ready
OL - Same as last year once Boulware shows up and Scaife gets a summer and fall under his belt...Reed may also have something to say at guard
DT - Better last year...If Willis shows out that will obviously lessen the blow since he did not play last year...Obenigbo will help depth...Just need one guy (hopefully Ford) to step up as a run stopper to fill the Norton role.
DE - Stacked with Jackson, Jackson, Garvin, Patchan, Rosseau...combination of depth, talent, experience and new blood...D. Jackson will slip inside (like Chad did) on 3rd down.
LB - Deep and talented...period...excited to see Steed, Jennings and Wilder develop behind the other guys so they can be experienced and ready to go when their time comes in the next few years
CB - I think the combination of Jackson holding down one side, Bandy at nickel and a bunch of dudes competing (Dean, Ivey, Frierson, Blades) for the next 2 playing spots will give us plenty to play well. Love what I am seeing from Ivey and Frierson with both summer and fall practice left. Huge to get those guys in here this spring. Blades will compete as well.
S - Not only do we have both returning starters and backups, we are adding Hall. It allows us to also play (smart move by Diaz) Smith and Finley at SLB in the nickel and get better coverage at that spot.
