1. The AD search has begun. In a situation like that there would probably be pre-designated candidates and then the search firm would bring candidates to the table. The field will be narrowed to 2-4 candidates and then a committee from the University would go interview those candidates and make a recommendation to the President. The President is the ultimate decision maker. He hires the AD. In the past, presidents have taken the committee recommendation. In others they have not. he will make the call.
2. I see that all being done by ballpark Dec. 4 or so. That isnt set in stone, just my impressions. It could go quicker, but all of next week to complete the process seems like reality.
3. Once the AD is hired, there will be another group that discusses the football situation with him which I assume would include mainly the same people. The AD becomes the ultimate decision maker. The President will approve or disapprove but conventional wisdom would be that he is hiring the AD to do that and would not be likely to overrule.
-------------------------------------------------
The scenarios would likely be
A. Keep Manny
B. Hire Mario
C. Conduct an open search
There will likely be proponents on each of the three. Gonna be interesting
