To be clear, not all of us are pumpers or doomers. Some of us simply wanted a quality HC and were not invested in taking sides or picking specific names. The reality is that I really wanted Manny to do well. I thought he made some great moves early on and really bought into the #TNM movement. Even after we lost to FIU, LA TECH, ETC. I still supported him. We got crushed by Clemson and I still supported him. Then everything changed for me after watching that NC game last year. The pumpers all said "its just 1 game" or "let it go" or "Kids were sick with Covid, etc." However, after watching us get thoroughly destroyed by a decent but far from great NC team at home with a major bowl on the line, I realized Diaz and company were just totally outclassed as coaches. Typically, a wounded team at home with everything on the line would have rallied. Instead, we came apart in every category. From that point on, I KNEW Diaz did not have it. It is not a matter of effort as I believe Manny did everything he could including staff changes. However, in the end, Manny doesn't have the gravitus needed to be an elite HC. He simply doesn't. This is an unfortunate fact for all of us who wanted him to be the "guy". In the end, if you look closely at everything in his background as a coach, the concerns where there all along and James just ignored it and Manny sold him.
