It was 100% due to Biden ordering the cessation of US support TO the Afghan Army .. a month in advance of the pullout date. The only reason the Afghan Army has been able .. for the past 10 years .. to keep the Taliban at bay was due to having US Air Support and US Intelligence information. When both were cancelled ... the Afghan Army was done. The cessation of that support should not have been executed until AFTER the US pulled out all embassy, support, and ally personnel. Total disaster .. as is being acknowledged by every single Nato ally. Instead of being an international leader, the US Government is now seen as an inept laughing stock. 100% on Biden .. as HE over ruled his military advisors. The man is an incompetent, inept, fool.

The inspector general for Afghanistan issue reports May and June that things were collapsing=ignored. Biden closed Bagram July 1. State Dept said things collapsing in July but Biden Said no problem.

So why presume they aren't when SecDef and the DoD Spokesman haven't said they are anything more than isolated incidents? Bottom line - we are negotiating with the Taliban to get thousands of people out of there (in addition to the thousands that have already left), and need them to cooperate or else we are going to have to send yet more troops in to start fighting with them. Nobody on either side wants that.

There are going to be incidents from time to time where Taliban foot soldiers can't differentiate between Americans and Afghans because there are a lot of Afghan Americans walking around in Kabul - these are US passport holders who are trying to make their way to the Airport. Taliban soldiers look at these people as Afghans, not Americans. We need to therefore figure out whats actually happening before reflexively presuming the worst.
