If the lineman's vertical leap is any kind of barometer

don't expect stellar play from our lines. Back in the late 90's Butch Davis hired Tommy Moffitt, strength and Conditioning coach from Tennessee to strengthen a defense that was literally run through, over and around by opposing teams. I believe the year was 98 to be exact.

Moffitt put the team through the usual drills and commented that only one lineman had a vertical leap of at least 30. He said that while at Tennessee all the lineman could jump 30 or above. UT in those Phil Fulmer 90s were known for producing stout lineman.

Reading our weight room results yesterday, no lineman jumped 30 or above but Chad Thomas came close at 29.5. If the weight room results are a measure of how we play then it looks like we will be out physicaled again this year.

Moffitt stayed with us two years and the results were plain to see in the play of our 2000 team that should've had a shot at the NC against Oklahoma. Moffitt left us for LSU after two years and last I heard he's still there.
