For what.....? Treason is "the highest of all crimes"—defined as intentionally betraying one's allegiance by levying war against the government or giving aid or comfort to its enemies. ... It's the most serious offense one can commit against the government and is punishable by imprisonment and death. This entire situation does set up for an interesting conundrum. Not like Milley is riding the high of the outstanding work he did in the Afghan surrender. However in fairness to him, this info is coming from a book from a sleazy political hack looking to pad his resume and cash in. Would it really be above Woodward to create a few bold sounding lies to sell books and get his old face on TV again?
But back to Milley, if he did actually do this, then he has committed multiple crimes, most that call for the death penalty. Nowhere in the constitution, US or military code is there a "I don't like the President" excuse clause for treason. He had the right to resign, or even speak to other appropriate US military officials about his concerns about the Commander in Chief. If you believe the 25th ammendment is appropriate you attempt to invoke it. If impeachment is in order, we have seen it can be done quickly (and stupidly with lots of lies) as Pelosi proved.
But to bypass the chain of command and negotiate military agreements with a potential enemy would simply be treason. Does anyone with more specific knowledge of the subject disagree?

You have spoke on this board many times about your military service. You certainly know that the military does not allow anyone to unilaterally bypass chain of command. Especially when it regards the Commander in Chief. Do you really think the military enjoyed Biden telling them to stand down to Blinken. But they did. That is the way the US military works. Focus! As ex military you know better. Trump as incoming Commander in Cheif spoke with another world leader on a number of subjects.. That is how the Presidency works. It is not illegal and certainly not without previously set pattern. Biden, Obama, Bushies, Clinton, Reagan, Carter, Nixon, Kennedy, Eisenhower, etc. all spoke to foreign leaders prior to taking the oath of office. Russians bought a couple facebook adds for and against both sides.
