In honor of MLK Day, a video of the man himself speaking at UM

For those of you who haven't seen it or don't follow UM on Instagram. Pretty damn cool.

Sorry meant to reply to canesfan

Simple answer is the message he sent and how he sent it. Simply put, all men are equal and love one another and that hate accomplishes nothing regardless of the side it's on.
I was recently at a funeral where a young priest talked about another friend of his that recently graduated from seminary school with him or something like that and when he asked his friend what was the biggest supprise to him as a new priest? He said confession. Not neccisarily the specifics to what ppl did but the fact that there could be so many good people out there that have done messed up things. In his words, "we're all messed up" and basicly it's Up to our lord the one and only to judge and forgive.
If anything, this country could really use another mlk to reiterate this concept and sell it through society the way he did and not what we have right now which is you have the right to hate white ppl and shoot at cops because they're all inharently evil.

Kind of off topic but I’ve never understood why the black community honors MLK as much as they do. I get that he was the face of a movement and we as a country are much better for it but there were several other black activists that did as much if not more than MLK and didn’t have the accompanying baggage (numerous affairs several with underage girls, connections to the CIA etc...). One in particular is Claudette Colvin. If you don’t know her story I recommend you look her up. She was the original Rosa Parks and when she did what she did it wasn’t a pre planned incident with numerous people around her to protect her like it was with Parks. It’s akin to celebrating Che Guverra instead of Cesar Chavez or the bs that is Columbus Day.
Well, he was a great orator, perhaps one of the best in American history. He was truly eloquent. Further, he advocated a (largely) peaceful approach to protesting. The ability to stay calm and peaceful in the face of hatred, much like Gandhi, warrants immense respect and appreciation. But most importantly, he was able to organize an otherwise disjointed civil rights movement. While the people you referenced were players in the Civil Rights Movement, some of them were reluctant participants; their actions were not done with the greater picture in mind, but were “simple” acts of protest. MLK unified people across the nation. When he spoke, people listened. Just like in any business, the right CEO can lead a company to greatness.

I'm waiting for the Neo fascist cabal of Canesport to speak about his adultery while Trump is paying off porn stars for silence and getting pissed on by Putin's Russian hookers.

What’s does this lie you keep repeating have to do with you ruining a thread honoring MLK?? Talking about MLK here, no reason to even mention Trump. Again, the demons you walk around with daily must suck! I really don’t feel bad for you. Hopefully you’ll die slow soon!
