My kid just turned 6 and started playing youth tackle football this year. Now, he is a BIG 6 yo - not fat, just big. All bs aside he is a real good player - even surprising me to be honest. At his first jamboree he dominated coming up with 3 sacks, 4 tfl and 4 forced fumbles from the DT position.

Problem is now that he is stuck at 73 lbs, and they wont let him play until he gets to 65 lbs. My little guy really wants to play and is putting in the work to play but he has hit a wall and cant shake the weight. He's also a
Healthy eater and eats salad, veggies - no soda, sweets, etc.

First real game is this Sat and he has to sit. Im contemplating having him play up to the 75 lbs team but am very hesitant because the coach there is not very pleasant - for lack of better words.

IOU - any advice, suggestions would be very welcome!

I'm not IOU but i've put 2 kids through pop warner. One of them had weight issues every single season. My recommendation, just move him up. It sounds like he is a big 6 year old and he will be fine with the bigger kids. It will make him a better player in the long run. Not to mention, you don't have to kill him to eat right every day (like i used to do), he can actually put some weight on.
