Went in to grab a cup of coffee, and two brothers about my age, who manage the store, were organizing the coffee section and speaking in Creole. So I casually said "good morning" in both Creole and French and initiated some small talk in French with them (most Haitians understand and speak French). Eventually, I politely asked them point blank what they thought of Trump's controversial comments re: "s**thole countries." They laughed and said "it is a shithole, that's why we are here." They told me in French that they think Trump is an idiot and can't believe that we (America) elected him, but they told me they were not insulted by his comments and were glad someone was willing to call their "home(land)" what it really was. They finally told me in French that they don't think Trump is a racist, they just think he's a "gros bébé" (big baby).

It felt good to have an honest, cordial conversation with people about President Trump instead of having to read the vitriolic, anti-Trump, anti-white, and anti-Republican racist remarks that so many "tolerant" liberals love to spew out on a daily basis.

If he said it ( I believe he did) he did not mean the people. I think he means the Governments that run these countries who are corrupt, rob the people, and do not represent the people to improve their own countries. On these points I agree. I think Trump trying to do things that have been swept under the rug for far too long. Just wish he would speak / tweet less.

Agree. I do think that the comments were inappropriate. I don't like the off the cuff, reckless tweets/remarks he has consistently made.

But it is one thing to say stupid shit- it is another to turn Trump into something he is not. What happens is the liberals go bat shit crazy at every syllable of every word of every phrase of every sentence this guy says and makes the whole issue about race and him being a racist. Then the fake news at CNN and MSNBC feeds the flaming far left liberals their fake news heroin since that is what the liberals need to cope with their Trump Derangement Syndrome.

People think that I am this ardent til-the-death Trump Supporter. I was a Rubio then Kasich supporter long before I decided to vote for Trump.

I am ANTI-LIBERAL first, Trump Supporter second. But Trump FIGHTS for what I BELIEVE.

I hate the political correctness which the liberals use to roboticize society into uniformity of thought, speech, and conduct. I hate the liberalism which has infiltrated our educational system and infected the minds of our youth like a bad disease. I hate the racist, extremist groups on the Left like BLM/Antifa who people support and justify using lawless conduct. I hate the flaming far left liberalism in this country which has hijacked the Democratic Party from the party of Clinton and made it into this socialist/progressive political party. I hate the liberals who falsely accuse and label people racists, bigots, xenophobes, sexists, merely because people have an opposing view and have reasonable concerns about the country.

I am a libertarian Republican who believes in Nationalism, Constitutionalism, and Capitalism.

Nationalism. patriotic pride and a strong military which is built not for intervening in foreign affairs but as a defensive force. To walk softly and carry a big stick. Securing the BORDERS and having a MERIT BASED immigrant system.

Constitutionalism. LAW AND ORDER, to enforce the law of the land and to have a judiciary which does NOT legislate from the bench, but interprets the Constitution in its original form.

Capitalism. To promote a free marketplace of commerce which is mostly DE-REGULATED, and where competition drives down prices, and INDIVIDUAL WEALTH is achieved from INDIVIDUAL SUCCESS, rather than government handouts.

Liberalism is the AIDS of political ideologies, and those who harbor its far left tenets suffer from a disease of the mind.

Exactly! It’s incredible the length at which the left are willing to go to fight Trump at every level. He’s still kicking their ass, even with all the disruptions lol.

True and many times I laugh but that comment was unnecessary. Why feed the flames? The Democrats want DACA but want to do nothing for our country, again.

I don’t expect Trump to change. I don’t expect him to act “Presidential”. It’s a weakness. I’d like my presidents to act Presidential, but I don’t give a shit about each and every word this guy utters because I’m not a puss bitch liberal like most of the puss bitch liberals on this Board who go bat shit crazy the minute Trump says a word.

POLICY, ideology, and strategy are more important to me. Trump is producing positive results and pissing off liberals every week and all these liberals can do is cry conspiracies and falsely accuse him of being a bigot. It is the same predoctable card that these bitch liberals and their fake news liberal bitch whore mainstream media peddle out each and every day.

His whole thing was shaking them ALL up including the fat cat republicans which is the party you and I align with. Our own party is filled with do nothing fat cats who make their livelihood in DC doing nothing when our Country needs to get important things done. On this point I understand Trump. The Democrats are a totally different matter. I honestly believe they do not even like our country. Not all but a good majority of them.

Trump sucks. He hates Haitians and blacks. Two consent decrees by DOJ for housing discrimination in New Yak. Stop pretending otherwise. He is a racist POS. Just look at post Charlottesville comments about Nazi rioters who killed a young woman. If Antifa had not kicked Nazi ass probably another half a dozen murders.

Its same s**t different day with the liberals........take molehills and make them into mountains about how evil and racist Trump is. Granted, it was stupid to say what he said especially when he should have realized the company around him before he made the comment......but it is what it is.....and he never pretended to run on the politically correct comments ticket.

Here is the funny part....or sad part with many in the mainstream media. A liberal source leaks a conversation about comments made behind close doors.....the media then takes the comment and runs with it 24 hours a day over-saturating the airwaves.....then the same media feigns compassion towards Haiti while day after day doing segments apologizing to Haiti for having to hear those comments. While we rag on the mainstream media we should really respect their skill set......crocodile tears are in vogue again.

The Donald knows how to appeal to his core audience.

@PalmaBoy @Raoul2 is mocking Trump supporters not praising David Duke. I'm sure you hit like button reflexively when you saw Duke's deplorable support for Trump. Translating for you lol.
No actually not at all, I hit “like” because David Duke is the only person I’ve seen who actually craves more attention than you or CD. All three of you say attention seeking dumb shit all day long.

Clueless comment!! It’s like anything else, obviously 2 don’t speak for everyone. However I know two people who live in Parkland that aren’t total slobs. Yet the third is! It’s a consensus!

Don't forget about the Central Park five or " I hate blacks counting my money, I only want little guys with yarmulkes counting my money." I digress, Comrade Trump could call someone a greasy black n***er on Fox news and these clowns would still say he's not a racist.

Fair post.

A couple of things that stood out towards the end.

- Nationalism and Patriotism are two very different things. Patriotism in the simplest terms, is simply a pride in and love of, country. Nationalism is more of aggressive version of patriotism whose adherents generally don't believe their country can do any wrong and is undergirded by feelings of a common culture, ethnic identity, and common origin. The trouble with the application of nationalism to the US is we don't have a common culture, common ethnic identity, or common origin. We are instead a stew of different people from many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds who believe in a common set of ideals codified by law.

- Capitalism is not a free-for-all horse race that is exempt from all government oversight. There is no such system in existence and there likely ever will be. The "market", which operates on profit logic, has no morality, therefore the government sets regulations by which markets can function for the benefit of the public. We regulate everything from how much lead we have in our water to how many liquids we can bring onto our flights; to day trading in the stock market, to more recently whether health care providers can turn you away based on pre-existing conditions, to any number of other things.

- On Liberalism : What are you describing as liberalism is actually a conservative pejorative that has been used to "other" the opposition since the 1980s. Liberalism, in a true academic context is actually the political doctrine that advances the freedom of the individual in areas like freedom of speech, press, Democracy, and elections; it is by definition pro-individualism (as opposed to other cultures that focus on tribes, casts, religious sects etc). The U.S. is a liberal democracy because it has democratic elections and emphasizes the rights of the individual. Being a "Constitutional Republic" is a subcomponent of being a liberal democracy. So as you see, when it is assessed by its actual academic definition; its about a million miles away from being "the AIDS of political ideologies".

Nationalism is defined as "loyalty and devotion to a nation"; patriotism is defined as "love for or devotion to one's country"... So the two terms are not "very different things". the mistake many people make is they think the term "nationalism" automatically has an exclusionary component to it by which people from different cultures, etc. should or will be excluded from the country. I agree that Nationalism can be applied in a manner in which you described. However, that is neither automatically the case, nor did I imply my belief in that assessment. I am also well aware of the cultural diversity in this country. I was born and raised in South Florida, speak 5 languages, am a citizen of two countries, and have been to more than 30 countries across the world. Contrary to the race pimps, the flaming far left liberals, and the general assholes on this Board, none of which you are and you have been mostly fair minded, I have several friends from several different backgrounds and am proud of that. My personal relationships with people are based on shared common values, mostly political in nature, rather than exclusively on race, as many here so falsely assume.

With respect to Capitalism, yes, I believe that that the private market place should be mostly deregulated. I believe that the federal government should be involved in regulating specific, but important areas of the private market place. For example, anti-trust laws, the ADA, general anti-discrimination laws, the FDA, etc... help promote the public welfare for the citizens. Obama was a regulation enacting nightmare in my opinion and was a government interventionist who was in favor of extraordinarily high taxes to foster his goal for mass redistribution of wealth. This is one of many reasons why I despised that POS.

With respect to liberalism, I agree with some of your historical observations. However, I disagree that we are "Constitutional Republic" as a subcomponent of a "Liberal Democracy". If anything, it is the other way around. In a democracy, the minority is not protected because of the one person, one vote principal. Rome was a Republic, and Greece developed the principles comprising of a pure Democracy.

Article 4, Section 4 of the Constitution states that “the United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican form of Government.”

Our Constitution is derived from the Republican principals whici existed in the Roman Empire under the Roman Senate. We are a Constitutional Republic with democratic principles. In other words, our Democratic principles are a part of our larger form of government, which is a Constitutional Republic.
