JW has done some good things, but his both Freshman inexperience and weaknesses reared their respective ugly heads yesterday. At least two of his INTS were his fault- the deep ball INT was underthrown and late, and the sideline INT was underthrown and didn't have the "pop" on it. The first INT looked like P.I. to me- maybe that was 50-50 on the QB/WR. JW looked shell shocked and had a bad game. It happens.
But this was less to do about JW and more to do with Kosi. Kosi is clearly the MOST TALENTED QB on this roster. For a gangly looking guy who barely goes 200 lbs and looks like he's 12 at times, Kosi can flat out throw the ball. Something about the way his arm whips the ball with VELOCITY. He also showed great touch to JT4 on that floating TD pass to cut the lead back to 14 before DeeJay's TD run. And Kosi to date has cleaned up his act and been a solid teammate.
I also saw Kosi throw the ball away better when things broke down, check it down out in the flat, and look very calm cool and collected, especially for a guy who wasn't expected to play and was literally thrown to the wolves in a shitty situation. He did everything he could to help us win- over 400 yards and 4TDs, and drove the ball deep with CONVICTION.
Manny MUST start Kosi against UVA, or else I think that he really risks losing the locker room. Some people say this and that about JW's confidence and whatever... What about the OTHER FIFTY guys in that locker room who can clearly see that this offense is more lethal with a more talented guy like Kosi slinging it- Jeff Thomas had his BEST GAME in over a year. The offense just doesn't have the explosive "pop" to moving the ball and scoring with JW as it has with Kosi.
