I just finished watching the last series of Cocaine Cowboys. It was a pleasure not because its a Emmy worthy doc , but because I was attempting to place my timeline growing up in Miami ( Opa Locka , Coconut Grove , Liberty City. ) I seen how greedy and disorganized thing was ran (by the government) and how no one could penetrate the culture. The willingness to stay with the status quo, and reject change . It became apparent why out of townie create this phase “Only in Miami “ or “It’s so Miami” .
The greedy and clout chasing is the apples and Board of trustees are the tree that current sway in the wind at the University of Miami. Dan Lambert stated “there so many damn trustees how could thing go so wrong”. Well we know the opposite with so many hands in cookie jar , how could things go right. Right down this black hole are our guys in the know (wink wink) phishing for information to feed the needy or greedy. Now the 60 panel members of board of trustees are no longer in know chasing clout amongst their peers. And here comes in Julio Frenk to cut off the drugs . But why should Julio and government escape public scrutiny , while the inmates ran the asylum on their watch. Why do we frown on Zo and Gino on being the AD . The truth of the matter is Julio Frenk wasn’t up for the task of being the president at UM…
All of this is old news , maybe. Have we learn from our mistakes maybe . Will we revisit this path in another 20 years. Will Mr. Frenk stand up and do his job as President of the university. Or will Julio just sit down and become President of the university hospital chain. If the Ladder is done then young black/white and hispanic athletes will continue to seek higher education and better run football operations programs and facilities elsewhere. Ever though as a fans we have all taken the drugs but we have done our time as well … Let hope this week or the next two week is our release date.
