Got to keep kids away from all those bad foods that make them fat. You know, the same foods that I grew up eating and still eat and yet I still can fit in clothes that I wore in high school. Maybe what the kids really need to do is to get off their lazy asses once in a while.
Maybe we should look out for ALL of our children rather than expect them to be like we were when we were kids.
Michelle Obama can take her no pride for America to far away Hawaii off the continent and play volcano dancing games with parrots and spear throwers.

I have a school age child who always bought school lunches until recently. It was a big help for my wife and I because it saved a little time at night not having to make and pack a lunch for him. He is rail thin and gets a ton of exercise. After the Muslim's beard changed the lunch program my son could not stomach the garbage they were serving and we had to go back to packing him a lunch. Thanks Obama.

The metabolism slows way down and the body stores fat because it doesn't know when the next nourishment is coming. Her program does not work and does not lead to more healthy children.

Calling a black person a spear thrower, is the exact same thing as calling one of us a speaker chucker which everyone knows or should know is racially disparaging to black people. Well there's a backstory that you're unaware of in that I've called him a racist before and Dr. Thug who I get along with intervened on his behalf saying that he wasn't a racist. His statement about Michelle Obama proves otherwise. That's why I asked Dr. Thug if you must know.

Don't get me wrong cd as I believe her heart was in the right place on this. I have no problem making some of these foods available for those that want it however it shouldn't be mandatory for all to eat it. Growing up I found out that there were foods that I liked and then there were some that made me sick just by the smell. In other words, broccoli may be good for you but the lunch lady would be busy cleaning up the lunchroom if I was forced to eat it. As in most cases there should be a better balance with rules and not a one size fits all for mentality for everyone. A lot comes back to just how much of this healthy food is simply being thrown away which becomes a huge waste of taxpayer money.

Agree with most of post, why do we need Govt in our lunch rooms now? Are we that stupid?? We need to be told what to eat?? Low income kids yes no doubt should get what they need whenever and however!!!!

The food pyramid is nothing new. All she did was making it healthier and that is good for every single kid in this country. The fact is our country is not healthy and the old ways were not working where we tell everyone to do it on your own. This is just leadership. It is vitally important. It is our kids future and should not be politicized at all. There is nothing that was done, that doesn't only have our kids best interest at heart but cost us any more money. It is an investment in our own kids success. If broccoli makes a kid sick he can easily eat something else that is healthy. There is no mandate on particular foods. The woman just wants our kids eating healthy and it has somehow gotten politicized because of who was doing it. That's silly.
She is ivy league smart literally....and is simply improving a food pyramid...not telling people what to eat. People can eat what they want. You don't have to eat what is served if you are a child. The concept of government being involved in the free lunch program is to ensure underprivileged kids can get a nutritious meal and often times unfortunately that may the only "good meal" some kids get for a given day as far as Michelle Obama dictating what kids can and can't eat, I can't speak to because I haven't heard about that.
So, let me get this straight and keep this in mind.... I raised a kid as a single parent. You mean to tell me that and your wife couldn't take all of what it took me about 5 - 10 minutes to do and pack his lunch for him? So, you want to blame Obama because she refuses to allow your kid to eat crap that isn't good for him? Now, this is a perfect example of the right. You want to call everyone else lazy, but you cant even pack a lunch for your own kid....so you blame someone else because they are looking out for your kid. What I'm complaining about is people such as yourself in our society that needs Govt to hold their hands and depends on Govt for making better choices for yourself!! I know with all confidence I make better choices for myself and my family than Govt does!! The old ways did work when I was growing up as you didn't see very many overweight kids back then. I believe that lack of exercise is behind most of the problems we see with kids today. Too much time playing with electronics and not enough time actually being outdoors and playing is what I see with the generation coming up. I just turned 55 in March and like I said I still eat what some say are unhealthy foods yet I still race motocross and work out nearly everyday and my doctor tells me that I'm healthier than most 30 year old's that he sees.
Creepy Chris, if my "job" was to wait for the check to come in the mail every month or have my card reloaded I would have more time. Point is both adults work in my house. We pay into the system instead of take out of the system. My kids play sports and go to art classes and dance classes. I often travel for business. Do we pack that lunch, of course we do. We do anything for our kids. The point is an extra ten minutes to see my wife is valuable to me. I must say I'm not surprised you are a single parent. Having to deal with you on a personal level would be suicide invoking.
The reality of the situation is the states suck at it and the kids pay for that.
