That's right folks 2021 there has been 353,000 covid 19 deaths versus 352,000 for ALL of 2020. Of course that is WITH the vaccine.
Remember when we hit 100,000 deaths and the media proclaimed Trump had blood on his hands?
Biden is doing WORSE with MORE tools. Vaccines, therapeutics, increased knowledge.
MEDIA? Silent.....................................

Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmm

The vaccine didn't become widely available to most until the spring of this year.

Less deaths in 2020 is probably a good testament to the lockdown and mask mandates that were put in place for much of the year, then eased in 2021.

Close thread.

Vaccine was ready upon Biden's arrival. We had already vaccinated 2-3 million people.

It was available to seniors and people with co-morbidities, not the general public under strict emergency use conditions by the FDA. The general public didn't gain full access until much later.

it's all Trump's fault. LOL!

Those are the people MOST likely to die. It's irrelevant Raoul. Biden promised to wipe out covid on campaign trail. He largely won ( presumably) because people THOUGHT he could do better dealing with Covid. The numbers show clearly he has not done so.
More importantly where is the media the phony bastards. Where is the Covid countdown screen on CNN? Where is their outrage they showed when we hit 100K deaths against Trump?

Phony BS is where

I don't recall him saying that. Are you making it up by chance ?

If you look at the two states that have been our nation's greatest Achilles heel on COVID, they are FL and TX - two states where Republican Governors elected to take irresponsible positions on masks. Had both DeSantis and Abbott taken stricter measures from the beginning, the damage caused by the Delta variant would've been significantly less over the past few months.

Are you discounting the thousands of untested unvaccinated illegals flowing into those states?

So Raoul with NY and California SEVERE lockdowns and mandates putting business after business out of business seems to me they are right in line with the other most populated states. Check your numbers fool.

Worst states for outbreak RIGHT NOW?

Virus doesn't care what you do. It will be back spreading in California and NY soon. Florida just had a wave and now declining rapidly.

Don't be a fool.

This is different from what you said above. Getting it under control is a work in progress that will happen as more people get vaccinated.

How about therapeutics Raoul? How about the outstanding results from monoclonal antibody treatments? Or is just vaccine or bust with you. That would be the Trump vaccine that Joe and Kamala didn't trust pre-election, but now want to mandate.

I'm all for monoclonal antibody treatments, but let's gets real. How many people know about them or have the wherewithal or resources to get them? They only work after a person has been diagnosed with COVID and before a person actually gets sick enough for hospitalization. That's not a realistic approach for a vast majority of people. As for "Trump vaccine" - only Trump supporters view it as "his". Anyone who has followed the story of mRNA vaccines, knows that its a technology that has been in the works for well over a decade.

I never viewed it as Trumps vaccine, but Joe and Kamala characterized it that way, again, pre-election when they did not support it.
As for monoclonal antibody treatments, it's free. Thanks to DeSantis, awareness of availability and efficacy has been heightened. Funny how Fauci never seems to tout it.

But he fast tracked it, funded it substantially , and cut the red tape. Other than that you are correct.

More funny is how Biden is trying to ration it and Desantis found his own source for Florida.

The first day I'm inaugurated to say I'm going to ask the public for 100 days to mask. Just 100 days to mask, not forever. One hundred days.
"And I think we'll see a significant reduction if we occur that, if that occurs with vaccinations and masking to drive down the numbers considerably. Was this the extent of his great plan he promised.?

Wait a minute Raoul said Texas and Florida were the leading culprits?
He was referring to numbers, not death rate. "Florida and Texas lead Covid-19 surge". 1 in 3 cases nationwide occurred in Florida or Texas this week!

LOL! Clown.

So true HJ. Biden is playing checkers while DeSantis plays chess.
Florida averaged over 300 deaths per day last month and the number is still rising because Florida is backdating all of their data to make it look like cases are always trending down. If you wanna call that playing chess......

Don't know what charts support your nonsense but here is the real deal. Get off the CNN man it's killing you!

Don't know what charts support your nonsense but here is the real deal. Get off the CNN man it's killing you!

These are the numbers reported by Florida.......

6960 deaths reported in september (keep in mind this number will keep growing for another few weeks based on the way they report)

6960/30 = 232/day.

It will likely be around 250/day when dust settles. I was actually originally referring to August when I said last month but September's number's weren't exactly great either.

I'm not taking a left or a right stance.....I'm simply saying Florida's number's don't exactly scream "playing chess".

About 4 months ago, Florida was right around the middle of the pack in terms of per capita deaths which certainly helped make the case that RD's policies were positive but now Florida sits 9th in Deaths per Capita.

The idea that one side is doing everything right and the other is doing everything wrong is assinine. There are Dem states doing too much and Repub states doing too little. It's ok to acknowledge Governor's like Newsome and Cuomo have done poor jobs AND so have Gov's like Abbot and Desantis. This is the problem with our society. Everyone defends their side blindly and won't acknowledge their own failure's and the other side's successes.

Your post is couched in politics. Florida reports accurate numbers just like they are supposed to. We had a spike in July - September and now it is waning. The 5 worst states right now Florida is NOT included. Soon it will spike in another State and then another and another and that is what viruses do.

You must be reading the Miami Herald. But hey, what about the great results with monoclonal antibody treatments? Isn't it great there's a treatment that keeps the disease from progressing and keeps folks out of the ER?
Hasn't it been great seeing full Football Stadiums, both College and NFL, with none of the super-spreader events that were predicted?

The antibodies are great, who says they're not?

But if you consider that the antibodies are helping and the numbers are still higher than they've ever been (by a large margin), clearly the social policies aren't working. It has been great seeing things open but the numbers are showing that the virus is spreading faster than it has previously so to say those events havent had any negative consequences isn't valid.

Let's not confuse what we like to see and the actual results. We all want life back to normal, that's not a left vs right thing. We can't just say that the results are good when they are worse than they have ever been despite more factors that should mitigate losses (vaccines/treatments).

Like I said in the original post, I'm not sure there is anyway to look at the staggering numbers in Florida and say Desantis is playing chess. Even though I'm not personally a fan of RD, I had started to believe that he had actually gotten it right when the numbers showed Florida having similar numbers as states that locked down. Now that we see that his policies are actually not producing similar results to lockdown states, it's fair to say his policies are failing.

That, my friend, is a choice. I've chosen to live "normally" since this began. If you choose differently, I respect that.
DeSantis is making all the right moves. You said you're not a fan of his, so you're looking for angles that are easily found in the left wing media. I mentioned the Miami Herald as they're notorious for left wing spin. The Florida Department of Health fought back in this article:
