This is also likely due to the fact that Texas has outsized military service compared to the rest of the country and as such there are many resources on the state and local level that are devoted to military aid and Healthcare. Dallas was very similar when I lived there and most of my friends living there had very good experiences as well with their VA system.

You seem to lack insight on the subject matter. Sources are frequently anonymous because they are not allowed to speak freely about topics out of fear of reprisal. They are fair game because journalists can use what they say and compare it to what others have told them about the same issue, and in the process, build a coherent narrative around what transpired. The idea that anonymous sources are illegitimate is grounded in fascism and its desire to control mass media to reinforce its own internal propaganda. This is consistent with Trump's behavior being mildly fascistic.
This all seems so far fetched and the timing is so convenient. It shows what a willing participant the MSM is to the democratic agenda. It doesnt matter if this is true or verified to them. It's all over the news now and they have accomplished their mission. Trump is a lot of things but I don't think he is a dumbass. No way he uttered these words to people even if he believed them because if true he would lose support from most of the people that voted for him...me included. To believe this I will need some actual proof.
Its completely in line with his MO. He believes in "Winner and Losers" and people who survive are winners, and those who perish are "losers". This is the exact same logic he used when describing McCain - "I like people who weren't captured". Its 100% spot on in terms of his narcissistic, horse race mentality view of the world. The only reason he would deny this now is because it would result in him "losing" in the court of public opinion in the lead up to the election.
Yes, I remember him saying that and it was one of the reasons I was reluctant to vote for him but had no choice. He is a draft Dodger and from what I can tell has no idea what it means to serve. I think this story is playing on his words against McCain. Hoping for people to draw those conclusions. I'm a conservative by nature but not beholden to the Republican party. I honestly didnt want to vote for him the first time but couldn't stomach Hillary in the White House. Here I am again...the liberal agenda in the democratic party is sickening to me and I know that while Trump is not a good person he will push conservative policies and not push us down the socialist path of AOC and Bernie. So I have to pull the lever for him again. I do wish we had other options but you go to war with the Army you have...not the one you wish you had.
I could see what you're saying about the Dems if Sanders was the nominee, but Biden is basically your average middle of the road Dem candidate, which is apparently good enough for most anti-Trump Republicans like Kasich, Flake, and others to publicly come out and say they are voting for him. At some point one has to put the future of the Republic ahead of personal or party interests.
I dont believe Biden is anything but a puppet and figurehead. Its abundantly clear he has early dementia. Not sure how that can be denied. Lots...if not all of politicians are lying, scumbag POSs. That's what they do unfortunately. So I am putting the republic ahead of my personal feelings. Even though Trump the man is kinda gross to me I know he will put conservative/constitutional leaning judges on the supreme court, he will better protect the 2nd amendment, politically he doesnt support abortion, he will curtail illegal immigration, and on and on. A vote for Biden is a vote for the liberal agenda whether people want to admit that or not, I dont want this country to go down that road so I will vote for whoever is against that.
This is one of those things that Trump does that makes no sense. No reason to get rid of the Stars and Stripes. I dont understand it and its troublesome. Still not voting for Biden tho....
The question becomes is he capable of saying shit like this? We can point to his televised comments about John McCain that we all saw and heard with our own two eyes and ears and emphatically say that he is. We also have the interview with Howard Stern where he mused about his avoidance of catching a STD as his own Vietnam. We have seen how he attacked one Gold Star family and basically called another Gold Star widow a liar. Recently, he had a meeting with senior military officers and called them dopes, losers and fools. All this shit adds up and if this were a criminal case and you were a judge about to sentence a defendant who was convicted, you or any other judge would take all of this into consideration when handing out a sentence.
The Stars and Stripes was one of my few connections to what was going on back in the states when I was stationed overseas. To get rid of it is truly outrageous.
Here is my thinking...many people, including me, feel the same way you do about what you just wrote. There is reason to believe based on his previous comments that he is capable of saying stupid shit like that. So, they run an unfounded story and hope people will connect the dots and believe it. I dont think he is dumb enough to say that to anyone. I would still need proof to believe it. Making fun of someone you dont like and have beef with is different then disparaging service members who have died.
