The people saying we need to throw all this money at a 17-18-year-old kid without proving themselves are just plain nuts. Miami and Mario are doing the right thing for the long-term success of our program. What Texas A&M did is a one-off and is no model for long-term success. Yes, teams have been paying players for years but not to the extent and rate this is happening now. What is going to happen with two or three of those five stars who can't crack the starting line up and all the pouting begin? What happens when a player who was not heavily recruited, but has the respect of the team has his "earned" snaps reduced because of some five-start player pouting about playing time without doing S#!*?. There is this little thing called team culture, which is the main ingredient to building teams that allows talent to shine. Do you think a player like Rashada is going to come in with a 5 million dollar NIL deal or higher and sit on the bench waiting his turn behind Garcia, and Brown without pouting? Now imagine having 5 or 6 of those on your team. That will destroy the culture of any team in the long run. For us to have any sustainable success, the art of recruiting, evaluating, and finding players that fit your team still remains the number one priority. Not throwing a bunch of money at some kids from a company that has no idea what it takes to recruit the type of athletes that is needed to build championships.
