Some you will get who want to make a name for themselves but ALOT of coaches want to get to the NFL like the kids do
1. Because it’s the highest level of football even though I like college football better.
2. because alot of coaches don’t want to deal with the nonsense. The nonsense is the 360 day recruiting. With the Dec signing day and spring/summer official visits now. Coaches have no work life balance. It used to be coaches could go on vacation during the months of April-June. Now that is almost impossible due to recruiting. Then you have to consistently recruit guys on you own roster due to transfer, you have to work the portal and roster numbers.
it takes certain individuals to be able to do this. This is why you see coaches who got in the NFL not in a rush to come back to college or coaches who leave the NFL rush back once a job opens for them.
There are good coaches out there that not too many folks know about but once you get them then it’s a competition to keep them because soon as you discover someone some school or the NFL is looking to come poach. Just ask Mike Gundy or for the matter Nick Saban. That’s why it’s important to show kids that no matter who the assistants are as long as the Head man is there the program and standard will be the same.
