Do you remember coming home from school (or cutting out) to come home to watch afternoon World Series games. Didn't matter if it was your team playing, it was still exciting.
Somebody told me the first game was on tonight...really sad I didn't know that. Does anyone give a rats ass about the World Series anymore..

Yep. Need more games that end before 9pm and after school.

The first World Series I ever cared about was the Marlins-Indians, and it was a GREAT one. Growing up in South Florida I always envied people who had MLB as kids in other cities. My wife is from Pittsburgh and she remembers going to see Willie Stargell and Roberto Clemente play when she was a kid.

Yes! I went to Howard Drive Elementary in the 60's. I have a fuzzy memory of someone wheeling in a TV with rabbit ears to watch a game when I was in 4th Grade. My teacher, Mr. Nelson, was so cool.

As a kid when the World Series was on, I carried a transistor radio to school and turned on the game the moment the school day ended. I'd walk home listening, and go right to the TV to see the end of the game. It was the biggest sporting event of the year when I was a kid and always provided many great plays, games and individual performances.

I remember rushing home from elementary school to watch the Mets in the World Series.

I went to Howard Drive in the 60s. Mr. Turner in 4th, Mr. Patel 5th, Mrs, Posey & Mrs. Nicholson 6th. Principal was Mrs. Gordon.

That's awesome. I had Mrs. Beechamps, Mrs. Tall, Mrs. Kendrick, Mr. Nelson, Mrs. Tribble, then in 6th Grade I was in the new extension, portable type building with Mrs. Henkle and Mrs. Sumner. Mrs. Gordon was the principal. Remember Greek Day? I lived on 78th Court right next to the school. Walked or rode my bike to school. Great times.
Isn't it amazing how you can remember your elementary school teachers?

I said exactly the same thing last night
The World Series started???
Lol sad

Two years ago (pre-Covid) MLB had $9 bn in revenue, $1bn or so below pro football. So someone still cares, or to paraphrase Mark Twain, news of its death seems greatly exaggerated.

It's tough to get excited about MLB when you don't know who is playing for your team one year to the next. Very rare now for a player to play for one team his whole career. Jeter comes to mind however no other names jump out at me. If you look back, the Curt Flood decision and free agency hurt baseball.

College and pro are all the same free to move
