I'm sitting here in my Cleveland living room getting ready to watch my Cleveland Browns. Unfortunately for both my Browns and the Canes they are a lot alike in terms of their recent success, or lack thereof.
The Browns suck. Have for a looooooonnnnng time. I do believe they have a good coach and lots of good building blocks to some day get back to mediocrity. They are smart. They're building from the inside out - meaning building up the OL and DL. Now they're never going anywhere until they get a QB but a lot of the other parts are in place.
UM kind of has the opposite issues. The talent is decent. It's good enough TODAY to win the Coastal Division and to challenge Clemson or Free Shoes in the ship. However, like the Browns, something vital is missing. For the Browns it's a QB, for the Canes it's a HC who knows up from down.
So... as far away from success as the Canes seem to be, they are a HC and staff away from being top 10 in the country year after year. They just need Blake James to quote presidential hopeful Donald Trump when he speaks to Al in 108 days; "Al, you're fired". It's as simple as that... and hiring someone good.
That close.
