I know I'll get grief for this but I honestly don't care. I am so excited to watch this year's team play! This is the first year since 2002 where we are going into a season with a leader at qb who actually has the ability to carry this team. With the skill positions around him if the O-line is average then we will be dominant on O.
Defensively if you don't see the improvement despite losing Denzel, then I don't know what to tell ya. Grace is the best combination of size and speed since the Bernuda triangle of Jesse arm stead, Darrin Smith, and Michael Barrow (the slowest). Our secondary may not be as deep as some would like, but it is strong, very strong. I don't know of another team with three top cover corners, a future star in the NFL at safety, and two freshmen who by all accounts will make an early impact (redwine and Jackson). Throw in deeper DTs, Norton, Quan and Chad at the DEs with Jackson and others pushing, and I see talent all over the pushing them.
I've been around this program for 30 years and we have talent. We have top notch talent that can compete with anyone in my opinion and considering "the cloud", at least give Golden credit for building a solid roster with playmakers at RB, TE for sure, and a deep WR core all with a QB who can manage the game with confidence with a year under his belt and get them in the right plays to exploit defenses.
Hate all you want but I feel like I'm in Bizzaro world when I see Vegas and CBS predicting us to fail so miserably. I will agree that if Al doesn't do serious damage with the talent he has brought here, even during difficult circumstances, then he absolutely needs to move on after the season. But that is so far away and we have a super talented team with maybe waaaaay more potential to go waaay further than any of us think and all people wanna talk about is how much they hate Golden and who is replacement will be. Geez! This is the best time of the year and you ruin it for yourselves. I believe this team is gonna surprise a lot of folks. Could be wrong, but I don't think so.
