UNC will look back and this and say this was a game they could...should...maybe, have won...look at the hits and men left on base (LOB) above...but our pitching was clutch when we need it to be and we got the timely hits with men in scoring position when we needed them...
BIG STAT OF THE GAME:
Our pitching...we held the mighty Heels to just 3 runs...on top of just 5 in Game 1...our pitching is coming around...
SCORING
UNC opened the scoring plating 2 runs in the topo of the 1st but we answered with a pair of our own in the bottom of the frame to tie things at 2-2....the score remained tied for the next 4 innings until the 6th when UNC pushed across the go-ahead run to take a 3-2 lead...that lasted 1 inning when in the bottom of the 7th we scored 4x to take a 6-3 lead...we added 1 more in the 8th and that's how the game ended...
PITCHING
Ligon: IP 5.0, H 8, R 2, ER 2, BB 2, K 6....he didn't get the W, but the FR righty kept us close
Torres: (WP 2-0) IP 2.0, H 1, R 1, ER 1, BB 1, K 3
