168 million corks stuck at sea can't get bottles, labels or corks. Seems the corks come from China like everything else.

When will we wake up?

Guess it's just another Ultra MAGA idea................

I thought when COVID hit and we learned that 95% of our antibotics are manufactured in China, that we would wake up and move toward bringing the manufacture of certain items back onshore. Or, at least move the manufactoring back to North America. No such move is underway.

With shortage after shortage, certainly, we must realize that China has us by the short hairs. The power they have over us, in my view, is a severe national threat. How in the world could the US ever take a hard line with China over anything? The threat of cutting us off would be devastating.

Politicians and corporate CEO's have been selling out America for decades.

But still, I don't hear any talk of onshoring. This is lunacy.

Can't find them.
They come from China.
Lots and lots of stupid stuff like that...............MIA

Hey, I’m in the wine biz. No supplies from China. Zilch. Rather, it’s an international business:

Oak barrels from France (were stuck in a container off of Long Beach, CA). Shipping costs are way up.
Corks from Sardinia. Real Corks are grown, not manufactured.
Tin caps (foils) from Spain.
Red wine bottles from France
White wine bottles from Mexico.
Labels from USA.
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa.
Chardonnay from Sonoma.

Only good news on costs over the last 2 years? The $/Euro exchange rate has become favorable. Used to be $1.20 per Euro. Now it’s more like $1.05 per Euro.

Cheers! 🍷🍷

Point stands though that NAPA wine industry is getting squeezed by supply chain problems.

This is what President Trump told us.
He told us ALL previous Presidents and Congress sold us DOWN THE RIVER FROM BOTH PARTIES

And for that he had to pay
You simply CAN NOT tell the truth, they don't like that
He was 100% RIGHT
When you criticize "the system" you create enemies on both sides. His administration had more leaks than any other. This clearly demonstrated that the Republican party leaders hated him too. You are only supposed to demonize the "other" party in order to placate the "sheep" constituency in your own party.

Multitudes of ordinary people looked through the bullshit that was Trump, and saw someone who actually wanted to solve issues. Trump was never supposed to win. Jeb Bush was supposed to win. He destroyed their guy and was hated for that.

Problem was, solving some of those issues was bad for business for many government slugs and their corrupt dealings. In politics, you're not supposed to really solve problems. You convince the dumb ass population that you CAN solve them. Elect me and I will.

How are the wars on poverty and drugs working out?

Totally agree. But it’s about public companies needing to reduce overhead costs to meet quarterly earnings, that is how all this outsourcing started.

I think we are saying the same thing

No it started by the desire to bring Western capitalism to China in the hopes it would show the people there the benefits of democracy. It then ballooned into HORRIBLE deals like NAFTA that literally pushed US companies right out of our country along with other FREE TRADE deals and the removal of normal duties and customs fees. And boy did they run right into the arms of low wage slave labor. And they haven't come home yet to my mind. If they have to pay todays USA wages and costs then 8.5% inflation will look cheap.
