You might remember Jarred Kushner led a team and came up with a framework for peace between Israel and the Palestinians. Welcomed by the Israelis and quickly rejected by the Palestinians but a framework is just a starting point. If the Palestinians really had a working Government then the proper response should have been " we like some of it and we don't like parts of it but lets talk," But no, it was outright rejected so no talks.
Then the Trump Administration tried a novel approach and I say it was genius. Lets have Israel make peace with other Arab countries and restore normalize trade and flight patterns, normalize relations. UAE, Morocco, Sudan, Oman, Bahrain all joined in. Talks were even progressing between Israel and Saudi Arabia. In the Abraham Accords all of these Arab countries pledged to help and assist the Palestinians and required Israel to work towards this endeavor with them. The Trump Administration figured if the Palestinians won't come to the table we will show them that Israel will and other Arab countries will.
If I come to your home and knock on the front door and you don't answer the knock, I'm not getting in. The assistance the Palestinians could have had would have helped the people tremendously but that's not what Hamas wants. Improvement for the people in Gaza would surely spell the end of Hamas reign and they won't risk that.
