We want to get back to the “glory days”
Of UM football. Back to the days of winning Championships! Even when we had great players and probably more great players on one team than any other in college football we still did not win the Championship every year. But despite not winning the championship every year we knew we would win it or at least be a game away from winning the championship because we had the best roster of most top universities year in and year out. Due to the $$$$ that’s flying around now to recruits and their families UM can no longer have the great rosters overall that we were accustom to in the glory days. UM can not get into the recruiting $$$$ bidding wars ( not only is it illegal) but also as a result of the NCAA having an office right across the street from the Hecht Center. Well it feels like the NCAA does how closely the NCAA is sniffing up this program ass 365 days a year because of Shapiro! UM will get it’s fair share of top recruits but it will never be to the amount of top recruits that we had in those glory days. The University of Miami Football Program has to shift the direction of how we move forward to get back to winning championship. Yes you need great players but the direction of focus has to shift immediately. Credit Blake James for getting that process started by paying and hiring coach Richt but, it doesn’t stop there. Some thought a great head coach would remedy everything or mostly everything. That’s obviously not the case. Even if Nick Saban was here he alone could not do it himself. Blake James has a lot more work to do and that is advancing the football program coaches budget and for the support staff of the head coach Mark Richt. Maybe that million dollar donation went to a good cause but not the right cause. The revenue that was put into the IPF project should’ve been put toward the assistant coaches and the support staff budget FIRST before we even thought about starting construction on the beautiful IPF! Yes we need the IPF but it should have been second on the priority list behind a great head coach, great Coordinators on both sides of the ball, and great assistant coachings at “every position” to include a great support staff to assist all the great coaches of the football program. We can no longer depend on great recruits coming in year after year. We have to put all of our finances and resources towards obtaining and maintaining a great coaching staff from top to bottom first, recruit at the highest level possible secondly, and coach the hell out of whoever is bold enough to sign with THE U thirdly.
We need to win a $$$$ bidding war but it’s not the recruiting bidding wars! We need to out bid the top universities for the greatest coaches first! Having enough talent to win will never be our issue. We may want more great players but we will always have enough to win. The one consistent we must have going forward every year Is “Great Coaches”! Not just the head coach but every coach on the staff. Imagine if we could have match the salaries offered by Alabama to coach Mario, Georgia to coach Coley, Alabama to coach Kool, LSU to coach Canada. Imagine where we would be with these coaches still currently on our staff. It can be done. It is a must.
Blake James still has fund raising to do! Or The University President must advance the football program COACHES budget immediately. If not, then last season and our current season will be our norm for years to come.
