Anyone else finding a boring watch this year...75 degrees, shirt sleeves, no weather, and soft conditions...equal record scores...

I always look forward to watching The Open because of the usual rain, wind, cold...brutal course conditions where the pros grind for par/bogey...this year it's a birdie fest like any other week...No bueno

NBC's coverage is horrendous.; too many commercials the "play through" is so small you can barely make out what's happening and missing a number of key shots by the leaders. There's just no flow to the telecast

I've enjoed it. Colin and Jordan have played great. Louis is boring but as an ameteur competitive golfer I appreciate his game. Scheffler is in striking distance. Rahm is at -7. Tomorrow conditions are supposed to be favorable, and I'm looking forward to a great Sunday. Expecting a 3-4 man battle.

AD, with your tendency to hit snap hooks off the tee, you can appreciate boring gap toothed Louie all you want...you wouldn't break 120 on the course as set up for the pros...and the conditions are easy.

I would give you 2 aside.

DeChambeau was hitting snap hooks off the tee and still made the cut. From the one time I met AD, doesn't he have the girth of DeChambeau anyways??

Well his snap hooks go 350...AD 220...I don't see a "girth" on Bryson...looks fit to me....haven't seen AD in awhile...last time 5'10 ish...210-215, but solid.

The Masters spoils us for any other Major. CBS coverage is flawless, and the masters.com site where you can select player and watch their every shot on a hole just played mere minutes before is fantastic...

Problem is covid lyn, they are using the “World feed” from the BBC for video. The broadcasting crew is sitting in a truck in Connecticut!
what sucks is the weather, FAR TOO NICE

LMAO LMAO LMAO no offense to Varkas, WTF can go thru your mind to put Bryson and him in the same thought????It be like comparing him to Justice Thomas!
He may be excellent at both golf and law, he is simply not in their league.
Although who knows, maybe he’ll be sitting there one day!

How is Tiger doing? Hope he wins a few more majors.
He’s still in total rehab from serious injuries sustained when he flipped his car doing 80 mph on a curvy road in LA. No drugs or alcohol involved. Just recklessness.

Collin Morikawa, just 24 years old, is the new hope for USA golfers. Two wins at the Majors in just 8 tries. Played bogie free golf for his final 31 holes at the Open. Amazing.

Cortez, this is erroneous information....8 of the top 10 PGA Tour golfers are from the great USA (including Collin of course), and that's excluding John Rahm who has lived in the USA for many years, but originally from Spain. Plenty of "hope" for US golfers for many years ahead!

Well they both attended SMU....AJ majored in Fraternity while Bryson majored in Physics.....Pony up!

Bryson swings about as stiff as anyone I’ve ever seen. Terrible swing but somehow it works for him. It’s almost impossible to think he could ever snap hook a ball with as upright as he is at address. Crazy

True Cash...actually these pros mostly hit a straight ball these days...they will push one, or pull one...but hooks and slices don't really exist...they build equipment to make sure.

The young man seems like a true class act. I'm a new fan of his.

It’s not erroneous, RJ. It’s my opinion. It might be wrong. But, Collin is only 24 with 2 Majors under his belt.

I’m backing Collin, the young golfer from my grad school alma mater: The University of California, Berkeley, aka “Cal”.

LOL OK now that's another story

Lmao what a clown. Snap hooks? First of all I’m a natural fader of the golf ball and I average 282-288 cutting the ball in my sleep and when I need extra distance I can easily turn the ball over and hit 300+. I just competed in a 2-day 32-man attorney’s tournament 3 weeks ago and hit 26 out of 28 fairways and finished T-3rd firing a 73-73 +4 total.

Second, you wouldn’t know what I either would or wouldn’t shoot at Royal Troon. I’ve shot 84 at St. Andrews in rain blowing sideways. Plenty difficult. I spent countless time in Europe as a kid playing links golf. I shot 79 at TPC Eagle Trace in Cora Springs during a pro-am for the Honda Classic several years ago when Coral Springs hosted that tournament. PGA setup. Shot 76 at the blue monster from the tips at age 17 for the pro-am for Doral.

Finally, give me 2 strokes per side? Lmao. Hey it’s your money man. Within the last 15-20 days this GHIN 1.7 competing amateur golfer just shot a +1 73 at Jacaranda West, +3 75 at Red Tiger Trump Doral, and a -1 71 yesterday on the South Course FTL CC. I should be giving YOU strokes but we’ll just settle for straight up. Anytime, anyplace man. You let me know.

I have 3 US Am Tour amateur tournaments next month let’s see whether you’re playing in any of them. Lmao.

Bryson is age 28, 6’1ish, and weighs 242 lbs.

advarkas is age 40, 5’10”, and weighs between 202-208 lbs. my playing tennis weight in college 20 years ago was around 191. I’m nowhere near what I was 2-3-4 years ago.

The only thing Bryson and I have in common is that we both went to SMU and played sports there. Different sports. Tennis and golf are night and day in terms of training, flexibility, and torque. Not to mention the extreme cardio tennis requires to compete at the collegiate level.

Bryson’s issue isn’t weight. It’s stroke gained approach where he is horrendously like 90th on Tour. That’s the problem when you have all of your irons cut at 37.5 inches which is the length of a 7-iron- tough to control your wedges and not surprisingly, Bryson typically flies his wedges long or double crosses them long and left.

Happy to let my man @TheLoki chime in on this one considering he played golf at SMU and was a former Florida state junior golf champion and probably top-100 Junior amateur golfer nationally.

Congrats to Collin- just a first class display. Just goes to show that solid iron play and putting never go out of style despite the sexy talk of driving distance. And Collin’s putting has remarkably improved this year since the Masters. Used the claw grip at times and made some absolute baller par putt saves and then the birdie late to move to -15 with a 2 shot lead. Love watching Colin play and I had bet him to win the 2020 PGA Championship in San Fran
Last year.

And as usual Louis chokes in a Major. Great golfer. Never has been nor will he be ever be elite. He’s a beta non-closer. Zero killer closer instinct, unlike Tiger, Jack, Hogan, Trevino, Brooks, Phil (when he needed it), Jordan early in his career, Rory early in his career and a few others with multiple Majors.

Thanks for the laugh in this thread. Highly entertaining for a Monday

31 finishing holes without a bogie. Poise, concentration, consistency…..no choke. Quite remarkable.

The Japanese love golf. I’m betting that they’re gonna support this Japanese-American at the Olympics next week. Exciting for him.

Advarkas,

Very impressive is your golf game...obviously, I was just busting your balls as I have no idea how you play. Question: have you played in the Dixie Amateur? prestigious tournament amateurs all over the world come and play. Some recognizable names are past winners. Tournament is always played locally (Eagle Trace, Heron Bay prior to closing)...I've played a couple times, then back issues and old age got in the way. I sometimes volunteer to be the Starter.

Check it out...

No problem. I will look it up, thanks. Also, I’ve learned to have more of an appreciation for Starters over the years not just in tournaments but for practice rounds dealing with a lot of idiots who try to tee off without a tee time, skip and bounce around holes, hold up the course with slow play, fail to repair divots, and exhibit general poor behavior on the course. Thankless job, but in my opinion Starters are the eyes and ears for local Clubs in facilitating a neat, orderly, and smooth golfing experience for everyone. The Starters at my home Club (FTL CC) are excellent, and I have had great experiences with the Starters at Jacaranda, Pembroke Lakes Golf Club, Trump-Doral, Osprey in Boca, Medalist in WPB, Plantation Preserve, Grand Palms Resort, and several others throughout South Florida.

Very well run event...and in our backyard!

Note some prominent names as past winners...incl. Lexi and Curtis Thompson, formerly residents of Eagle Trace...

Most likely will sign up for this tournament. Looks very good and very notable people have competed as you referenced, including Daniel Berger who I know through his father Jay who I know who was head tennis coach at The U.

Plus they are re-doing the greens at Eagle Trace this Summer (course closed) so they will be in great shape...I play there often...still the toughest test (from blue tees) in Broward imo

Bro you are the only dude I have ever known who could win a junior tennis tournament and break 80 in the same weekend. You are also the only dude I know who turns a 3 sentence post into a 3 paragraph post for 3 posts. We have best ball at Miami Beach Club this week. Work on your damn bunker game

Yeah, these folks’ hatred for the US is undeniable

BC...Cortez later changed his narrative to being a Homie of Collin because they attended the same college in Beserkely, said it's his opinion...he did miss the facts though in a big way.

RJ…Changed my narrative? Don’t think so. I do believe Collin is the brightest light among young American golfers.

And yes, his going to Cal is an added plus for me as a fan. So what?

You are a piece of work, Breaking. I express support for the American golfer Collin Murakawa and you interpret this as “hatred for the US.” You’re letting your political agenda cloud your reasoning, again.

You originally said Collin is the "new hope" for American golfers...very different they being a bright light...and as I said, it became your opinion vs the fact that 9 out of top 10 golfers are American. Every one of them offer hopes for American golfers...and yes, this week Collin is the darling "bright light". Let's not forget DJ, Spieth, JT, DeChanbeau, Koepka, Xander, Cantly, Reed and so on...and no so what that he attended college in Beserely...thats you being a homie...dems da facts.
