Supposedly the decision about Manny is solely on the new AD, who nobody knows who it is yet… therefore it is impossible for anyone to know what this new AD will decide.
Given this…. Why is Gary saying Manny is likely to be retained? Is it:
A) There are rumblings of optimism in the building indicating that Manny would return or somebody flat out told Manny he would return? If so then the new AD doesn’t get to decide Manny’s fate and that part of the story is incorrect.
B) Gary knows Manny is staying and is trying to ease us into the news or he got bad info previously and is slowly switching stances so we don’t notice he got got.
C) Gary is saying Manny is likely to be back solely on his opinion that it’s unlikely a new AD comes in and fires a coach right away without taking time to evaluate (potentially another season).
Has to be one of these because the story doesn’t make sense otherwise.
