Now I'm not saying this happened before everyone goes full retard.....but....
Is it possible that Manny informed Blake that he planned to redshirt most of his incoming players as well as a few veterans, not to lose games necessarily, but to take their lumps so to speak this year. Also setting themselves up for a big step forward in 2020. We're not losing much to graduation besides our LBs, we're redshirting the majority of our freshman class plus McCloud and Lingard which could be huge if they don't portal out. More evidence is that they are playing walkons in place of burning shirts. Also 7-5 or better in 2020 will look like an improvement over this year. Finally if you're trying too hard you might be able to read between the lines of Blake's comments:
"Manny is doing the things he needs to do to build a program for long-term success. And some of it we won’t see until after recruiting signing days, a different approach on things in terms of what he wants to accomplish. I will say I feel 100 percent as confident in the decision today as I was back when we made it in December."
Manny may be a rookie head coach, but he never struck me as dumb or inept.
