Birthplace of my mother and grandmother, San Francisco takes a frequent beating on this site, eg, rampant homelessness, super expensive housing, crazy politics, home of Nancy Pelosi, etc. Can‘t dispute or protest against all this criticism.

However, in the fight against the pandemic, SF is kicking butt. 74% of all residents age 16 and above have had a least one vaccination shot. 54% of that same group are fully vaccinated.

Infection and hospitalization rates have plummeted. The economy is opening up.

I believe this data establishes SF as the most successful large US city in its anti pandemic effort. I’m proud of this.

Was a great city till it was mismanaged. That goes for a number of U.S. cities. San Francisco has had it's share of bad publicity mostly involving the homeless on the streets with graphic videos depicting the feces and used needles left in public.
That vaccine rate is a positive development . Unfortunately, there is so much wrong with that city that anything slightly positive needs to be magnified.

Are they vaccinated or are you just assuming so from all the hypodermic needles littered across the city?

Just returned from a short visit. Our friends live in a formerly beautiful neighborhood. Sad. They are moving to NM
No doubt a true (and sad) story for SF. Other than fighting the pandemic, the City is on a negative roll.

That’s good to hear controlling Covid. Now you just have to worry about Bubonic Plague or Typhus name your recycled problem

I used to travel to SF regularly. A beautiful, and once proud, city has been trashed by incompetency. Can you even entertain the idea that the Florida model might have been a better path? But hey, Nancy gets her hair done, eats $11/pint ice cream, and Gavin dines at Michelin star restaurants. They haven't skipped a beat, so all is good.

criticism of SF political leadership is fine and often very justified.

preferring the Florida model? No. i lived in Miami for 9 years and loved it. But the violent crime rate was horrendous and political corruption was rampant. No thanks.

Right now, the governor is acting to block the cruise industry from offering cruises where the crew and passengers must be vaccinated. What? Why is he squelching the free market and pushing cruise lines to leave Florida? Political based stupidity.

Nice to hear there is no political corruption in CA. I guess the decades long history in LA, SF, Stockton, SD etc. etc. etc. hasn't reached your news sources yet

57,

Thanks for your perceptive wisdom.
Common Cortez, have a little sense of humor.
deep down you have to give Kevin57 credit for a very clever remark. I mean it is not every city that has syringes lying on most downtown streets. Maybe the CDC can include a Covid vaccine in every free needle they give out. That would be kind of a BOGO government give away. Pelosi and Newsom can brag about how they are bringing efficiency to government.

I was born and raised in San Francisco and have nothing but fond memories from my childhood there. My family moved from there to Pacifica in 1964.To see San Francisco today is just sad. SF is saddled with crime, filth, rampant drug use and is an incredible failure of permissive, liberal policies. I seldom admit to my roots there. Even though I live within easy driving distance I never go there and view a trip there as only a chore not a joyous thing. Wealthy elitists hold sway in the SF of today and only pay lip service to the plight of the less fortunate. To those unfamiliar with the SF of yesteryear it still will hold some fascination and it is an interesting place to visit. When a place emphasizes it's 'rich history' and bygone glory times as SF does you soon realize it's because its present state is lamentable. Visit, enjoy the diverse foods and traces of its great past then leave and be grateful you don't live there...

Krvaness,
I calling you out for spreading disinformation!

https://www.cnsnews.com/blog/cnsnew...v-audience-her-freezer-full-12-pint-ice-cream

Nancy's ice cream is $12 per pint. Not $11 as you falsely stated. You must be listening to Fox again. Just to remind you and others of the facts, listen above to how Queen Nancy answers the "really tough" questioning the mainstream media was asking her about her favorite ice cream, while many Californians had to wait in food bank lines due to Newsom lockdowns. Nancy is such a Saint.
