...against Vandy after blanking the 'Dores 3-0 Tuesday night. Again, it was the Cavs pitching...and some timely 2-out hitting, plus a lucky bounce off the 2B bag,...that catapaults them into the winner-take-all game Wednesday night.
This was only the second time this season Vandy has been shut out and the Cavs did it by statrting a little-used P who handn't pitched since the ACC tkurney. He kind of had the same outing as Sam Abrams had for us in the regional clincher vs. VCU.
UVA will go with Waddell, one of the ghys who help eliminate the Gates. Meanwhile, Vandy will send a top pro prospect of their own to the mound. It should be quite a battle.
Bats may put fannies in the seats but the CWS is showing that at this level and this time of year, pitching is the name of the game.
I think we can all agree that after the U's recent showing in Omaha, our pitching will have to get a lot better, not just to get to another CWS, but to stay there and advance, especially to the championship.
It would be nice to see the ACC beat the SEC for the title. The ACC will be looking for its first CWS trophy since 1955. Meanwhile, the SEC is playing for it all for the 8th straight year. That's imoressive, Caniacs.
Go Canes!
