First I saw this. Have no inside information or knowledge. But I thought it was a well written piece. Not just the racial side, but the issue of citizen reporters. Many police do not like it, but technology has made it a reality that is not going away. Not trying to start a forest fire, in fact it would be nice to have intelligent and measured comments about the subjects at hand. I guess Too much free time this week?

95%+ of the police are great. But any remaining % of bad policing, no matter how small, should be treated with concern.

There are definitely bad apples, I’ve encountered some along the way in my life time. Here is the flip side
You're still a youngster Z...plenty more bad apples to come...Hopefully you're locked and loaded driving those soft beverage trucks around...keep in shape...concentrate on sprints in case you have to chase someone down..speed is the key! Trust me!

The latest news on action taken against law enforcement officers who target minorities is the Virginia DA is seeking law suits against 2 VA police officers for pulling over a Black American Army Lt and threatening to shoot him . The VA DA gets it.

So let’s jump to that conclusion as you always do. assuming you have all the facts, which you don’t. Guess you just have another 250,000 cops to go. I guess in your utopia if there’s no cops, all black people are safe with cops off the streets.

fact, cops protect black people from killing their number one killer, black people. If black lives mattered, blm would be the number one advocate of cops.

the federal government could clean up the south side of Chicago in six months but it’s much more politically correct to pretend that it’s not an issue and keep throwing money at the problem for more votes.

wether you want to except it or not, we are all gods children which makes us all brothers and not just the ones that look like you. Time you put your politics aside and start advocating for your fellow man of all melatonin. Seeing anyone of any color get murdered in record setting numbers that are going up every year under liberal leadership should piss you off just as much as it does anyone else. It’s not getting better despite your op.

Im not an advocate of underfunding police. More often than not Blacks and Hispanics have gotten the short end countless times. I also understand being a cop isnt the most satisying, rewarding job on the planet. But therei is world of difference when a cop, or cops come upon a person of color and choose to take indecent liberties on said person of color.
Discrimination doesnt only happen with police towards minorities. A great example is Ethan Couch, the Affluenza teen who killed 4 people while driving drunk. He got a slap on the wrist. But in 2019 a young Hispanic male who while driving a delivery vehicle killed 4 people and even though the trucks brakes failed, which wasnt his fault was sentenced to 110 years. Meanwhile the company that owns the truck gets a slap on the wrist. WTF is that??????

Well that’s good and I’m all about holding cops accountable. You’re picking and choosing though. How bout that football player that just got beyond shit faced and ran his vette at 100+ mph into another car in a residential area where the white girl and her dog were trapped in the car and burned alive with everyone watching? That guy will get five years on good behavior. Are you going to sit here and tell me that there aren’t a shit ton of black guys that have committed major violent crimes that weren’t slipped through the cracks, let onto the streets only to commit more violent crimes? All judicial systems are ****ed up every where in the world but it’s not contingent to melatonin levels in this country (for the most part and it goes both ways).

George Floyd was kneeled on for 9 minutes and is a hero to some now. The cop that did this is now in jail. Tony Timpa, a white man, was kneeled on for 14 minutes and died. The cop in that case was cleared of wrongdoing and no NFL or NBA player took a knee for 14 minutes in his honor. Stop with the BS that things like this only happen to persons of color.

I will say its unfortunate, sad, tragic that there are a percentage of police officers that lack cognitive function/skills. I cant remember all the details of one incident where a Black American male was stopped and was shot next to his vehicle. There were 2 children in the car. 4 officers responded and not one of them had the foresight to not fire their weapons near the vehicle, The kids couldve been hit and what a horrifying experience for the kids seeing their dad get shot right in front of their eyes. SMDH

I will say its unfortunate, sad, tragic that there are a very large percentage of progressive democrat politicians that lack cognitive function/skills,,,,
Biden, Pelosi, AOC, Shumer, AOC, Talib, Omar, Warren, Sanders, Pressley, Mayorkas, Garland, Buttiegieg, pSAKi, Austin, Milley, Abrams, Newsom, Whitmer, Lightfoot, Blinken, Pfitzger and Manny Diaz Sr. just to name a few.

Much like the video of Daniel Shaver, who was white and was shot and killed while crawling on his knees with his hands behind his head in a hotel hallway. Or how about Justine Damond, the white woman who called police for help, only to be shot and killed by a Somali-American cop when she walked up to the police car.

According to TRT News, a Turkish News agency, #45 had the highest turnover in staff members in the last 40 yrs. A third of those seats had to be filled repeatedly. He had 4 chief of staffs, he had 6 communications directors and deputy national security advisors. He also dismissed 7 members of his own cabinet. All because he wanted to fatten his wallet, feather his own nest.
He fired Rex Tillerson, Jon Bolton, Homeland security advisor Kristjen Nielson, FBI director James Comey.
Last but not least HHS Director Tom Price resigned for flagrantly charging his own charter flights to the govt. Betsy Devoss a total loser.
We had a head of state who actually thought he could pull the wool over everyone's eyes.

Or how about Justine Damond, the white woman who called police for help, only to be shot and killed by a Somali-American cop when she walked up to the police car.
In the case of Shaver, who was a guest in a Arizona hotel, had a pellet rifle in his hotel room. Prior to the incident Shaver had a few drinks with a man and a woman. All 3 had been staying on the 5th floor of the hotel. The other man joined Shaver to look at the pellet rifle in Shavers room. According to the man, both Shaver and he moved to the window of the hotel room & took turns pointing and aiming the rifle, facing the open window. That was a bad idea and Im sure some passerby called police.
Justine Diamond was shot and killed when both Somali American officer Mohammed Noor and his partner responded to what they thought was a possible shooting that actually took place in a different area. According to Noor's partner when they both realized there was no shooting they decided to return to their police cruiser. Noors partner said he had holstered his weapon and Noor still held his firearm as entered the police cruiser.
Damond had called police to report a possible sex assault near her home. She got shot when she got close to the police cruiser with Noor still holding his weapon.
Both incidents should not have happened. Shaver should have known the consequence of pointing a firearm from a hotel window. Damond assumed Noor and his partner were responding to her call of a possible sex assault.
The one difference between these two incidents and those involving people of color are almost immediately People of color have the deck stacked against them. Its not enough they have been victims of oppression and indignation.

You’re losing focus. White people don’t own the monopoly on racism. Not everyones a winner. There are how many cops in the us? Some gonna suck and some might actually be racist towards races other than black people and the racist cop won’t always be white. It’s a mixed bag when your deeling with hundreds of thousands of cops. They can’t all be winners. Like in every job some people just suck at their jobs. To your earlier point the answer isn’t hiring less people or saying the same thing twice, making cops watch a video or some bull shit. It’s holding ppl accountable and not giving up on them. Cops and civilians. If both Derek chovin and george floyd we’re ever held legitimately accountable for the list of shit they did prior to meeting one another on that infamous day, they never would have met each other on that day, fact.
Apparently it’s just a free for all there. Floys niece just shot in a drive by and no suspect in custody. Cops were doing what ever they wanted till chovin was brought to justice.

Civilian's still getting away with what ever they want. Make no mistake about it. Lot’s of black people in baltimore committing crimes Clearly with out the fear of cops along with plenty of black people living in fear with zero faith in the cops.

Wow. Was Shaver armed when they shot him like a dog in the hotel hallway? Was he fighting with them like we've seen in so many of these instances? Did Damond pose a threat to the officers in her nightgown while being unarmed? Was she fighting with them like we've seen in so many of these instances? So, basically you're saying that when white folks get killed it's their fault or cop error but when a black person gets killed it's racism. Come on Hawaiian you're better than this.

I honestly feel in both incidents the responding officers may have had to handle life threatening situations, i.e., armed confrontations before they encountered Shaver and Damond. The adrenaline is still flowing. The officers are still wound up as tight as a drum. In the case of Miss Damond, her sudden appearance approaching the cruiser may have triggered Noor to shoot. He and his partner were about to leave what they thought initially was a shooting. For Shaver, he was stopped by an armed officer who may have assumed Shaver was armed with a handgun.

My point was that police work happens in the blink of an eye so mistakes are inevitable. Do you not think that a cops adrenaline gets flowing when a suspect resists or fights with them. In Shavers case he was fully complying with the officers commands until he lost his balance. The ending to that video is rather sudden.

I would think an officer would react that way but the officer is responsible to properly communicate with those that have been stopped for whatever reason. I understand the reason for people being handcuffed so officers can properly assess the situation. If an officer doesnt have communication skills and he goes from pillar to post on any given day, i.e., going to quell a domestic disturbance then respond to a armed situation, then to a possible shooting and if the officer or officers lack communication skills then it can go from bad to worse.

So some dirtbag beats up a woman, threaten's the cop and it is the cops responsibility to be a diplomat?

Not a diplomat per se but following correct police procedures, which also requires skills to subdue the suspect. Officer should also be required to recognize innocent bystanders for their safety as well.
