Under Trump, we heard about it daily. Haven’t heard a word of it since. Guess we’re good now?

Rocket man has lost a lot of weight. Better discipline or a sickness?

In either event, he’s not testing so many rockets right now.

P.S. Merry Xmas, 6882. I’m in NYC trying some new restaurants. Really enjoyed Ci Siamo, a new Danny Meyer place by Hudson Yards. Fun, lively and delicious. Great Italian-oriented wine list. Top Soms. I stuck with my go to Italian white wine, Greco di Tufo. Crisp, sharp, a little minerality and great with food. Everyone at our table loved it.

An associate sent me a case of Rutherford Round Pond 2014 Cab for Christmas. Any experience with this?

Yes. Round Pond is a beautiful estate in the very center of Napa Valley. Rutherford is a super premium area for Cab. Those 2014 bottles are worth about $70 each.

Enjoy.

He has abandoned his rocket program to deliver nukes to US soil. Believes it is easier to drive them across the southern border.

Yes, it’s hard to know what’s going on with rocket man and why he has calmed down for the minute. True that you jump to congratulate Trump and I don’t. That’s the way it is.

‘However, I do thank Trump for losing to a weak candidate like Biden and losing the Senate for the Republicans as well with his machinations in Georgia. There, he suppressed the Republican vote (cant trust early voting or the mail) and motivated the Dems to vote in droves. Cost the Republicans two Senate seats. Insanity.

Mitch McConnell cost the Republicans the (2) Georgia Senate seats. Forget Trump, forget questions about the November election and broken pipes. The Senate runoff election came down to a simple vote by many people in Georgia as to whether they wanted an additional $1,400 in their pocket. Trump and Biden both said $2,000 was the right number for the 2nd Stimulus". But Mitch said "no" $600 was enough". Shumer said "if demi's controlled the Senate the number was $2,000". Many Georgians that are not political wonks and don't listen to Fox or CNN, simply said "if we give money to all kinds illegal aliens and foreign countries, I vote myself another $1,400". It was that simple.

Mitch was trying to "save" $210B and ended up costing the US Trillion$, by losing his check on Biden, Pelosi and Shumer. Possibly one of the dumbest political miscalculations by a Senate leader ever.

While true, Mitch got our country a 6-3 advantage of rational decision-makers in SCOTUS which impacts several generations for the better. I’d take the long term win over losing the near term battle, all day, any day!

100% agree as to the bigger picture - Supreme Court. Especially since we have learned what an absolute POS Merrick Garland is. The sad thing is Mitch could have done both. He and the Republicans completely misunderstood the voters of Georgia runoff. They polled DC Republicans, not Georgia Independents.

Calm yourself. Where did you read in my quote referenced above that I was defending or happy with Biden? Please check your reading skills. You are stereotyping me and others who hate Trump.

I congratulated Trump for losing to a “weak candidate“ like Biden. Biden is headed to a Jimmy Carter-like presidency. Nice guy but ineffective.

Yet, I’ll take the ineffective guy over the narcissistic nut job who is Trump. His erratic, self indulgent, undisciplined nature reached its low point when he tried to overthrow the election results. This is absolutely unforgivable. Anti democracy. Authoritarian. Shameful. Never to be forgiven.

Majus, I didn’t expect your analysis (it’s simply Biden voters vs Trump voters) to be simplistic to the point of simplemindedness. You proved me wrong!

Sorry I disapointed you, NOT, however I have found that I need to be very simple minded talking biden supporters, as they are thin skinned with nothing to be happy about, EXCEPT Trump isnt President

IMO, there is a lesson to be learned from Georgia. Swing voters will vote for their self interest. While being a believer in capitalism and not government give aways, Republicans do need to be smart and practical. The stimulus checks were a cheap (approx $250B) part of a wasteful $1.6T bill. I will submit that the $250B was the least wasteful. Yes, some people that did not "need" it, got money. But it was their money (taxes paid) they got back. Stimulus checks were largely spent on food, clothing, household goods, etc. It was mostly spent in local econimies, therefore providing an economic multiplier. OK, I sure some went to lap dances, but strippers have bills too.

Going forward when the democrats come up with their stupid $T+ 5000 page bills the republicans should counter with a one page bill for an individual or family stimulus.

E.G the $5T BBB bill. So much garbage and give aways in it. 99% going to special interests. Lots of money for teachers unions, government surveillance of citizens, corporate welfare, global warming scams etc. Manchin will hold out a while then agree to a measly $2T (real numbers - not Nancy math). The Republicans would save money and help the US more by providing a competing vision of $500B in stimulus checks sent directly to tax payers hands. Is that a give away "yes". But would you prefer your tax dollars go to a local plumber, accountant, teacher, bartender, construction worker etc. or Billions to Merrick Garland's family for CRT propoganda or Randi Weingarten and the National teachers union so they and the FBI can harrass parents of school children, give millions to demi politicians, etc?

Yes this example is simplistic,, but the point is the Republicans may need to realize that give aways are currently ingrained in the US culture. You have to play the game understanding the rules. Why not "spend" half as much by giving people back their own money? Plus it protects the citizens constitutional tights (aka 1st and 2nd amendments) against government stepping on them. Why not give it to US Citizens than illegal aliens and drug cartels?

Republicans can easily win majorities, if they can just be smart, transparent and truly represent the interests of the citizens..

Isn’t that what the entire democratic party did though with the russia russia russia bs? It went on for like three years for no other reason than the dems just wanting to over throw the election results. A lot of these guys in power from the first day of him being elected said they were going to do everything in their power to get him out of office, in other words over throw the election.

That we know of because the media wouldn’t report it under a dem president even if it was happening. I hope you’re right.

Politics aside, when are you going to come to Orlando? Glad you had a good time in the big apple but Screw nyc. There’s hyats, a westin, a couple mariots, multiple hotels with in walking distance from my restaurant. I promise you, if you make it down this way I’ll show you a good time. I can’t really talk politics at work cause you know how that goes but we’ll catch up on some canes football convo and you’ll love our customers. I haven’t had that I know of the greco you mentioned but it sounds interesting, like a Sancerre maybe? I just picked up lagranges blanc for like $20 and it was pretty damn impressive. Pretty cool that some of these classified medoc bordeaux’s do whites and they actually do a great job and you don’t see them too often let alone have people that you can share them with that’ll appreciate them. As far as Italian stuff, they probably just invented a new varietal while I’m typing this. It’s damn near impossible to stay on top of all their cool wines. I’m starting to get into some of the wines from Sicily. They’re rocking it down there and their stuff is cheap. It’s pretty exciting to me that after so many years our customer base is finally opening open up to some of these old world regions that for so many years I wanted to sell but didn’t have the demand for. I’m not kidding when I say it’s not uncommon for regulars to pull a btl out of their wine locker here and say to who ever is sitting next to them, hey you like wine try this and it’ll be like a 96 borolo or a 05 second growth. People here love to share with people who love wine. It’s seriously like kids trading baseball cards.

Good to see you’re back posting about wine, 6882. All the best.

Greco di Tufo is a favorite Italian white from the Campagna region near Naples. ”Tufo” refers to the volcanic soil surrounding Mt Vesuvius. Sharp, bright minerality…not really Sancerre. Think a very warm day with a simply grilled fresh fish, maybe with tomatoes on the side.

Check it out. About $25 retail.

I’ll look into it. Good stuff, thanks. We never really get to travel but my wife and I did get to honeymoon the amalfi coast so all those southern varietals near campagna are kinda near and dear to us. On a side note, I’m a big history guy and my wife isn’t. I basically had to drag her to Pompeii against her will. Even she was completely blown away and had an amazing time. We had a tour guide that our concierge set us up with that met us there. This guy was short, fat, had long balding grey hair, wore a shirt buttoned down with a golden chain, total stereo type. Damndest thing though. Girls were seriously fawning over him. Other tourist groups and their guides would literally part the ways as we’d walk through where ever. My wife and I the entire time just looking at each other and asking who the f is this guy? I guess he was a really famous soccer commentator on tv retired and turned Pompeii history expert that’s still on tv a lot and just does the occasional tours for fun. You know the majority of the city is still under ground and yet to be dug up? It’s sareal, you don’t even need much of an imagination to see how things were thousands of years ago. Also, humbling when you consider their technology from way back when and the fact that my six year old house has plumbing issues that we’re still trying to get worked out.

Which six? I can think of at most two on SCOTUS that are sane (Thomas and maybe Alito).
