The non partisan Kaiser Family Foundation reported this week that 71% of Americans intend to take the vaccine, up from 63% in its previous poll. The groups least likely to take the vaccine fall heavily into 4 groups:

* Blacks
* rural residents
* Latinos
* Republicans

For the posters on this board, who will not take the vaccine and why? I will take the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines as soon as I can get it. I would not step up to take the Astra Zeneca, Russian or Chinese versions.

Thanks

Covid antibodies only last 6 months. My friend and his girlfriend had it in March and took an antibody test last week which came up negative. You can get it again.

Your first and second sentence are right, but the last and most important is wrong. Antibodies disappear, t-cell immunity is the long-term resistance. With worldwide infections reaching almost 1 billion there are almost zero reports of any re-infection. And zero reports of live reinfection aka PCR tests are being done at 45 cycles and finding dead and environmental RNA.

Not taking it.

Your rationale?

The Kaiser study mentioned that part of the Republican resistance to the vaccine relates to Republican beliefs that the risk of COVID is not that serious. Does that ring true for you?

Thanks.

100% True IF your immune system isn't compromised.

I have a relative who lives in LA and since he is a retired state of Cali Epidemiologist he did research on both Pfizer and Mederna vaccines. He said for those age 60+ Mederna is the right choice. I couldnt quite understand his terminologies.

Wife and I both had Covid in September and recovered quickly from it. No intention of taking the vaccines in the near future. Always keep flu and pneumonia shots up to date. Will monitor vaccines, effectiveness, side effects etc. going forward. Also monitor cases of reinfection and "immunity" aspect / value of having had and recovered from Covid.

had not heard that. Would like to learn his rationale.

Pretty sure he means that they are Rna technology .. and might have risks for younger people impacting DNA long term .. that isn't a risk for older folks .. who by definition .. won't be around that long.

My cousin said the biggest concern right now is how they will sufficiently maintain cold temperature to store them. The Pfizer vaccine needs colder temperatures than Mederna's; as they make the vaccine available, the question is how were they shipped across the country & how are they stored. My cousin plans on getting one of them, as long as 2 doses are available. The Astrozeneca vaccine stores easily and is a single dose, but not as effective as the other 2. No matter which vaccine you get, it will prevent severe symptoms, but will not necessarily stop infections so things like social distancing, hand washing, wearing masks will be very important for a while. Hope this helps

I've had COVID but would only take it once the data is out and proven. I am old enough to remember the Tuskegee experiment.

Didn't you take Hydroxychloroquine as well fia?

Not taking the vaccine. The virus is virtually harmless to me. Not worth taking the mystery cocktail. I never get the flu shot either.

Mungo, Allied and KRV.

Aren’t you just a bit concerned that your dismissal of your personal risk from COVID and decision to avoid the vaccine will lead to a “thinning of the Republican herd”? Could have political consequences as the rural and Republican population keeps shrinking. Think it over!

Thanks. I’ll take Pfizer or Moderna as soon as it’s available to me. 95% effective. AstraZeneca is at 60% effectiveness and has had some hiccups in its testing methodology. Not yet approved. I’ll skip that one.

I'd imagine we will have more than two choices in the coming weeks/months - there are at least 4 or 5 vaccines that are going through approval.

Lol. Your all right Cortez.

We have real data about the virus now. It primarily kills the very old. I dont know what the number is now but at one point I read the average age of people who have died from the virus was 79 years old. Unless you are VERY old or already sick you have 99.99% chance of full recovery.

I would recommend anyone in their 70s, 80s, etc or already have a compromised immune system get the vaccine and take precautions. The rest of us need to get on with life. Which is what should have been happening all along.

Why are Cuomo and his constituents not on this list?

Didn't you take Hydroxychloroquine as well fia?

I did .. a friend who has a severe arthritic condition has been taking it for 4 years . .had a big stash .. and sent me a few dozen pills. So when I got the positive report I called my Doc, got the Z pack antibiotic, zinc, and took those along with the Hydroxychloroquin. My symptoms were mild .. nasal and chest congestion. My sister, an RN, said she believes the Z pack is what knocked out the nasal infection and possibly the Hydroxy and zinc combo, along with vitamin, D, C etc., kept the condition from worsening. My wife didn't take anything .. and had similar symptoms and recovery.
