The problem with this program isn’t so much the talent level, since we have the talent to be a top 10-15 team.
The problem is that we have a group of SOME players (by no means all), that are in it for themselves. I think they viewed this game as a bye week after getting their first win of the year. I am quite sure that after 2 weeks of verbal abuse, the team will come out focused for their first home ACC game.
Offensive line play is so much about toughness and effort. Our four stars don’t seem to have much of that. You can’t coach toughness or a players lack of focus.
Candidly, what needs to happen in my opinion is that we need to run off the players that only care about themselves and get some lower ranked players that play we heart, passion, and hate to lose.
The culture is broken at Miami. The recruiting misses are due to many things but mostly guys who are more worried about being drafted than caring for their brothers.
We can start by having players learn how to catch, block and tackle.
I wish we had a team full of Quarterman, Bandy, Dallas.
The great teams were built on a foundation of toughness and competitiveness. Great fundamental football.
We need to give Manny some time. We can’t do what Bear Bryant did at Texas A and M with the Junction Boys since it would probably be illegal.
