Before I post said fantastically…prolley said with a straight face…sordid quote…Here’s a couple of the ol’ standby’s we‘re so used to hearing from some of these local “kids”, and subsequently wiping our collective asses with.
Recruit, (8th grade, Frosh, Jr. or Sr.), after they get a Cane offer:
“I was extremely excited when I got the offer cause Miami is my dream school.”
”Miami has always been by Dream school, since I was little.”
”Miami will definitely be in my final top 5, they’ve always been my Dream school.”
”I was so excited when I got the offer, Miami has always been my Dream school.”
”I want to make the Crib great, bring the U back!”
Etc., Etc, Etc…And any combination of those aforementioned comment! Then when it comes time to sign/fax in thise Commitmen papers…(7-8 out of 10 times, they sign somewheres else.
Exactly like what the kid I’m referencing in this post did, cause, and I am not uncertain, but if my memory serves, at one point he was committed to us, and in the end, his college choice came down…and I mean down to like the 12th hour… to us, verse Oregon…and he ultimately decommitted from us, and subsequently chose Oregon/Mario. Now he has transferred from said Oregon, to his hometown Canes/Mario…and this dude has the gall to wax poetically, these words…And again, prolley with a straight fcukin’ face!
“We as a team are tired of people saying, “What’s wrong with The U? How come The U is not the same no more?’ I just feel like us hometown kids have that hunger of bringing the team back,” Denis told InsideTheU shortly before announcing his commitment. “It’s kind of that feeling of I’m tired of people talking about our hometown like this.”
Now, all that being said, a few addendums to my, inexplicable judging of a young, semi-teenage aged child…
A- Kid is young, and Free Countr, kid is allowed to change his mind/tune!
B- His original spurning of his hometown Canes, obviously had many contributing factors to consider, subpar coaching talent now apparently could have been a deterrent.
C- The obvious advantage of recruiting acumen/advantage employed by coaches Mario/Miraba/Oregon staff as a whole.
D- Mario, obviously has firsthand, direct knowledge and believes kid can come in and help us…Which for me is the obvious number one reason I’m looking at.
But him (kid), making that whole “Hometown kids, wanting to bring the U back!” speech, coming from him and knowing some of the particulars of his recruitment, that sounds hypocritically-disingenuous, at best….Then again…
WELCOME HOME/TO THE U YOUNG LION…And like we used to say back-in-Tge-day, on the public parks basketball court in Da Hood…”No autopsy, No foul!”….GO CANES!!!
