Hello, Baseball Caniacs:

Before we get to this weekend, the BIG news is Friday when the NCAA announces 20 preliminary regional sites for the 2022 post-season. The final 16 sites will be announced Sunday, May 30 and the 64 teams after the tournaments.

Meanwhile, it's a huge weekend as Coastal Division leader Georgia Tech comes to town for a 3-game series at The Light. The Jackets got there by sweeping Clemson last weekend.

The current standings are below and see how tight they are with only 6 conference games left. IF we sweep GT we might move to 1st tied for W's and 1 game ahead in the L column. It's in our hands.

Only 3 games separate the top 4 teams so this battle is going down to the wire.

One Man's Opinion
Aaron Fitt of D1Baseball.com was asked by a Miami fan if the Canes can improve their regional seeding?

Adam: Can Miami move up to a 2 seed or are they stuck as a three seed assuming that they even make the field of 64
Aaron Fitt: JI still think the Hurricanes are in the mix for a 2-seed, sure. They’re 15-14 in the ACC with two series left vs. Georgia Tech and at Louisville — those are two more opportunities to record quality wins. If they go 4-2 in those two series, I think they’re an easy 2-seed. Even a 3-3 finish gives them a shot.”

CaneSport Baseball Preview
CaneSport has an excellent story on what UM has to do to make the post-season. Aptly titled: Time is Running Out

I hope U join me Friday night here on CS at 7 pm for Game 1. Until then...

...its' great to be...

Go Canes!
